Job Summary

Responsible for assisting the Senior Director, Insurable Risk, WBA with developing and implementing risk management processes in the key areas of management liability, cyber insurance, employment practices insurance, general liability, workers’ compensation, and casualty and property insurance. Ensures that the proper coverage is in place based on the company's risk profile and risk-retention philosophy. Coordinates the placement of the casualty and property insurance. Identifies and analyzes risks affecting the Company and assists with the implementation of risk control activities. Communicates findings to management.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assists the Senior Risk Manager with overseeing all elements of the Company insurance programs to identify opportunities for program enhancements and cost reduction initiatives. Communicates recommendations to management. Oversees storage and maintenance of policies.
  • Maintains an awareness of Company operating procedures and practices to ensure that all aspects of the insurance program are in place in order to control, reduce or eliminate Company risks and exposures.
  • Evaluates the insurance data from acquisitions to identify potential exposure to the Company. Integrates newly acquired exposures into Company's existing risk management program.
  • Partners with outside insurance broker to ensure that the placement of insurance programs and policies are both cost-effective and efficient.
  • Reviews analysis and reports on relevant benchmark information as it relates to the Company’s insurance programs. Communicates any recommendations to management.
  • Mentors, coaches, and develops employees through orientation, training, establishment of objectives, communication of policies and rules, and constructive discipline; builds morale and motivation.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 2 years of experience in risk management or High School Diploma/GED and at least 5 years of experience in risk management.
  • Experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
  • Experience in identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).
  • At least 1 year of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership.
  • Willing to travel up to 15% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 5 years of experience in risk management or High School Diploma/GED and at least 8 years of experience in risk management.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or Risk Management.
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and at least 4 years of experience in risk management.
  • Experience with a large, multi-state or global company in the retail or healthcare sector with a global knowledge of casualty and property insurance coverages, financial products coverage and other insurance placements.
  • Experience working with casualty and property insurance coverages and insurance placement.
