Job Summary

Are you a a self-motivated, mission-driven IT Software Test Engineer? This position can be performed working as a remote option. If so, we are looking for you! The IT Software Test Engineer will perform and implement activities that impacts components / processes of specified functional areas of the Walgreens business software products OR Digital/Online application in an Agile and Cloud (Azure) environment

We’re looking for a candidate who has a strong understanding of SQA methodologies and practices, knowledge in agile/scrum methodologies, and recent experience in developing automated test cases, coding, and enhancing test automation frameworks.

In this role you will

  • Work in a fast-paced environment with software engineers, product, and program managers in an Agile/SCRUM environment to deliver a high-quality work
  • Establish and develop a test automation framework for Walgreen’s software products
  • Develop and evaluate test automation scripts within a defined automation framework
  • Plan and execute automation tasks and ensure testing standards are followed within team
  • Contribute to test automation process improvements
  • Partner with other engineers to increase test coverage
Become proficient in understanding "the bigger picture" and how different software engineering components are linked together

Job Responsibilities
  • Writes code that meets specifications. Develops software applications and tools.
  • Completes programming and performs testing and debugging applications
  • Develops software applications and tools using Agile development methodologies.
  • Participates actively in the design, architecture and create phases, to aim at producing high quality deliverables, working with existing architects where appropriate.
  • Participates in the evaluation of compatibility of programs with existing communications hardware and software features. Develops professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
  • Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Strengthens productive internal/external working relationships.
  • Receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments. Usually works with some supervision, conferring with higher-ups on unusual or complex matters

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 2 years of Engineering, Software Engineering or similar field experience OR High School/ GED and at least 4 years of Engineering, Software Engineering or similar field experience
  • Experience writing code for applications or automation
  • Experience with programming languages for online applications, microservices, APIs or mobile applications
  • Experience building, testing applications or automation
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Experience creating coding solutions to fix moderate problems/issues
  • Willing to travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes (domestically and/or internationally).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar field
  • Minimum of 2 years of test development and test automation experience.
  • Experience with implementing test automation tools and frameworks (e.g. Selenium WebDriver, Protractor, and Nightwatch.js.)
  • Experience in writing and executing stable and high-quality automated test scripts, analyzing, and interpreting test results, and ability to perform code reviews, raise technical bar, identify risks, record and track defects
  • Proficient in JavaScript or another object-oriented programming language
  • Excellent knowledge of test automation methodologies, best practices (e.g. Page Object Model)
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB Cosmos
  • Experience in working in Agile/SCRUM Methodology
  • Comprehend user stories to understand task items per story in the context of all levels of testing (functional, integration, and regression, acceptance) and ability to provide estimates and create test documentation
  • Knowledge of test cases design techniques including boundary, decision tables, and BDD (Behavior Driven Development)/TDD (Test Driven Development)
  • Experience testing and developing automated tests for both REST and SOAP services using Postman, RestAssured or similar tools is a plus
  • Experience with continuous integration systems is a plus (Azure DevOps)
  • Exposure to cloud base services and platforms is a plus (Saucelabs, BrowserStack, etc.)
  • Experience working with high performing engineering teams, including both onshore and offshore, to solve tough problems
  • Willingness and ability to learn and take on challenging opportunities and to work as a member of diverse and geographically distributed project team.
The following information is applicable to Colorado only, in accordance with the Colorado Pay Equity Act. In Colorado, an employee in this position can expect a salary/hourly rate between $89,010.00 and $130,000.00 plus bonus pursuant to the terms of any bonus plan, if applicable depending on experience, seniority, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law.
