Job Summary

Participates or leads in activities including the analysis of complex requirements, maintaining engineering best practices, team process creation/enhancement, app store fulfillment, defect remediation, and writing code. This is a Sr role which performs advanced engineering functions, but also provides architectural solutions, collaborates with UX and Product for creative technical solutions, gives guidance to other team members, can rapidly prototype, assesses technology gaps, and analyzes new technologies. The primary objectives of this position is the conceptualization, development, and delivery of a modern, cloud native, componentized native iOS application and championing code integrity. Successful candidate will have at least three years of experience creating componentized iOS applications using Swift or Objective-C.

Job Responsibilities

  • Sets the standard by writing high quality code that is performant, reusable, and secure while adhering to industry best practices.
  • Leads the development of mobile cloud native prototypes.
  • Creates documentation for coding standards and best practices.
  • Performs as subject a matter expert, helping team members and management, both in and outside of engineering, understand complex technical needs, risks, and hurdles. Shares years to mobile application industry expertise to provide guidance and insight to other team members, business partners, vendors, and management. Most importantly, leads by example.
  • May develop the technical “vision” and design specifications of assigned projects and may lead in implementation.
  • Champions code quality and mobile engineering standards, evangelizing this through mentorship and helpful code review practices.
  • Assess and remediates business requirements and defects, providing expertise and sizing.
  • Takes point on architecting and implementing TDD and CI/CD processes.
  • Shares information cross-functionally to improve delivery processes. Interacts with internal and external peers and management to share highly complex information related to areas of expertise and/or to gain acceptance of new or enhanced technology/business solutions.
  • Always focuses on the big picture, acting as an authority on componentization, the IoT, application performance, data integrity, security, and best practices, balancing all these things against business need and sets appropriate expectations.
  • Researches new technologies and approaches to meet new business/technical needs and to deliver innovation to our customers.
  • Innovates mobile app fulfillment/distribution process by leveraging a combination of frameworks and Apple/Google Play store features.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years software development / coding experience OR a High School Diploma / GED and at least 7 years of software development / coding experience.
  • Experience delivering complex, customer facing, cloud native (in either Azure or AWS) mobile applications in an enterprise environment and collaborating with cross functional teams.
  • At least 3 years of experience with writing native componentized mobile code.
  • Experience integrating with service endpoints and optimizing micro services for app performance with knowledge of JSON.
  • Experience with Scrum and/or Kanban within an iterative, rapid development environment.
  • At least 3 years of experience releasing apps and configuring the Google Play Store and/or the Apple Store/iTunes Store
  • At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial business decisions in the workplace.
  • At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership, and/or cross functional team leadership.
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 5 years software development / coding experience
  • Experience building Cloud Native mobile applications in Azure.
  • Experience building iOS applications with SwiftUI.
  • Professional experience coding and delivering both native Android and iOS applications
  • Thorough understanding of microservice best practices and experience leveraging them for a complex, data heavy, multitenant applications.
  • Passion for mentoring less experienced team members.
  • Experience rapidly creating Proofs of Concepts for complex technical problems.
  • Knowledge of web usability, accessibility, WCAG 2.1/ADA standards.
  • Knowledge of OWASP MASVS.
  • Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, in the business community & with vendors
  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
  • Strong skills in analyzing complex problems, logs, reports, and other data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions along with reporting, solutioning, and planning to remediate issues or improve outcomes.
  • Experience identifying operational issues along with recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
  • Experience architecting and implementing successful CICD frameworks in an enterprise environment strongly preferred.
