Job Summary:

The Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacy Supervisor will support the development of the ambulatory clinical pharmacy program at Walgreens Health. This role is for the individual who has extensive experience in providing ambulatory clinical services to patients using approved protocols in collaboration with a medical team. The role will provide training to Ambulatory Care Pharmacists and Clinical Care Advocates to deliver evidence-based medication therapy in chronic disease management (e.g., CHF, Asthma, COPD, DM, HTN, etc.). The individual will also deliver direct patient care under collaborative practice agreement to ensure ongoing program advancement.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Precepts and coaches Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacists and Clinical Care Advocates to ensure practice advancement and clinical program success
  • Designs an effective Ambulatory Care program and implements the program into multiple geographies that will improve quality of care and reduce costs for patients with chronic diseases by leveraging Walgreens assets
  • Develops partnership with national clinical leaders and engages the embedded team members on the pharmacy clinical programs
  • Creates and maintains metrics for defining success of the embedded program and report them to senior leadership
  • Develops treatment algorithms, drug utilization management strategies, intervention techniques and policies and procedures needed to manage the clinical pharmacy program
  • Ensures the Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Program exceeds the requirements of partnership agreements, provide optimal patient care, and concurrently drive positive returns for the company
  • Delivers direct patient care and clinical practice using approved protocols, or makes recommendations to health care providers, in collaboration with a medical team on chronic disease management to improve the quality and outcomes to our patients
  • Communicates effectively with the patient's provider care team to ensure collaborative and alignment
  • Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local pharmacy laws

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years OR High School/ GED and at least 4 years Pharmacy
  • Doctorate of Pharmacy from a college or school of pharmacy accredited by ACPE and Board Certified (BCACP, BCPS, BC-ADM, CDCES, APh, etc.)
  • Completion of an accredited pharmacy residency program
  • Current active pharmacist licensure in good standing
  • Experience working in ambulatory healthcare delivery organization that operates under risk-based
    financial arrangements, preferably within a Specialty Practice
  • At least 1 year of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross functional team leadership.
  • Willing to travel up to/at least 50% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Current active pharmacist licensure in Arizona and in good standing
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • At least 5 years of advanced practice pharmacy experience in program development, disease state management with prescriptive authority and medication use evaluations
  • At least 1 year of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace
  • Willingness to obtain other state pharmacy licenses if needed.
The following information is applicable to Colorado only, in accordance with the Colorado Pay Equity Act. In Colorado, an employee in this position can expect a salary/hourly rate between $85410 and $151600 plus bonus pursuant to the terms of any bonus plan, if applicable will depend on experience, seniority, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law.
