Our LA Shop is looking for a Shop Manager to work independently to supervise and delegate shop duties and projects among our crew. The foundation of this role is to improve the utilization of the shop and shop resources; more specifically inventory and daily production need while maintaining a safe work environment. This position will also equip the entire crew with the skills to grow via training and support protocols. The Shop Manager will conduct monthly one-on-one meetings with their direct reports to ensure progress and career growth.

The Role:Â

The foundation of this role is to improve the utilization of the shop and shop resources; more specifically inventory and daily production need while maintaining a safe work environment. This position will also equip the entire crew with the skills to grow via training and support protocols. The Shop Manager will conduct monthly one-on-one meetings with their direct reports to ensure progress and career growth.
Key Responsibilities:Â
Ensure the Shop, Operations, Pre-Production, and Paint teams are supported from opening to closing, 7 days a week, by clearly communicating all priorities and tasks that need to be completed
Proactively coordinate shop improvement projects, build-outs, and special requestsÂ
Be forward-thinking and never stop improving shop protocols, SOP's and training docs
Keep clear communication between all departments and maintain project timelines
Remain flexible and work with all departments to prioritize hitting company-wide objectives
Directly manage the Assistant Shop Manager, Shop Floor Manager, and Shop Technicians
Hold colossal employees accountable for their actions in the shop
Hold paint apprentices and shop crew accountable for applying fundamentals in training in the shop and field
Communicate daily with Shop Floor Manager, Operations, and Pre-Production team for best scheduling options and shop priorities
Understand and maintain a high level of safety in the field and shop
Actively implement preventive maintenance plans for all trucks and lifts.Â
Work with the Production Management team to improve the general function of the shop
Requirements:Â
The Basics:Â
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
A valid driver's license is required.
Successful completion of OSHA 30-hour Construction course required
1-3 years experience working in construction required
3 years minimum managing a team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience working in Google Suite and Excel, and building documents in google sheets
 Administrative and/or people management experience in construction or a related field.
 Experience with database or inventory management.
 Previous auto or lift mechanic experience preferred
 Previous experience working from suspended scaffolds preferred
The Nitty Gritty:
Ability to work with little supervision as needed.
Great communication skills.
Ability to speak and read English fluently.
Must be willing to work and get along well with others
Strong computer/smartphone skills including Internet navigation, Google, and Slack.
Ability to comply with Colossal safety standards while performing work.
Ability to work from ladders and to carry a ladder and/or other tools to the worksite from a vehicle.
 Working knowledge of basic construction skills and techniques.
 General knowledge of Colossal, Department of Transportation (DOT), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety regulations
 Ability to safely use tools and equipment, in regard to the maintenance of the shop floor
 Ability to climb heights and work at heights above ground safely.
 Skill in the practical applications of mathematics, in relation to construction and operations tasks.
 Skill in setting priorities that accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position is spent indoors and outdoors, requiring the ability to work in adverse weather conditions and climb to heights up to 100 ft.
The physical demands for this position include heavy lifting (up to 100 pounds), extensive bending, pushing, reaching, seeing (with a focus on reading, color distinction, acuity, depth perception, and peripheral vision), sitting less than 50% of the time, standing, stooping, talking, turning, walking, driving, and climbing.
Nights spent away from home traveling are less than 10%.
On-call shifts may be required.
