The Hardware Team’s mission is to lead the development of the electro-mechanical systems on Toofon’s family of industry-leading UAVs and mature them to commercially ready states.

The Head of Hardware manages all aspects of the electro-mechanical systems on the UAV, including aerostructures and propulsion systems. They lead a team of electrical engineers, mechanical engineers and technicians to achieve all product objectives including cost, schedule and performance. They will collaborate cross-functionally to achieve company level goals including FAA type certification. The HoH will be a champion for the team internally through mentorship and a champion externally by actively working to attract new members.



  • Lead and manage an array of UAV specific projects accomplished by small, skilled teams of mechanical/ electrical engineers and technicians

  • Develop and implement product tests and procedures to investigate and resolve potential manufacturing issues, field failure investigations

  • Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for continuous product improvement to meet current and future customer needs

  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles and practices, experience in aerospace industry and UAV technology.

  • Strong skills in 3D modeling and simulation software, programming languages, industry regulations and standards.

  • Perform electrical and mechanical modeling, simulation, and analysis to verify project performance.


  • Experience leading and managing teams, ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong project management, problem-solving, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally in the design, development, and testing of software and services

  • Coordinate the design, development, and implementation of each team’s sub-systems onto the aircraft

  • Ensure proper documentation and standardization across the functional area

  • Work with engineering management on staffing, budgeting, and expense priorities.


  • Education: Bachelors in accredited engineering program, M.S. preferred;

  • Prior Experience: Must have 6+ years of experience with electro-mechanical systems in the aerospace industry

  • Computer Skills: CAD, PDM, Simulation tools, program management software

  • Technical Skills: Electrical and mechanical engineering, with knowledge of RF and/or thermal; Strong knowledge of hardware engineering development process

  • Industry-Specific Knowledge: Development of aircraft/UAS

  • Preferred: Excellent analytical & critical thinking skills

  • Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills; Ability to mentor junior staff; problem solving and conflict resolution skills

  • Other: Strong team player that is able to work in demanding situations
