Position Responsibilities and Duties:
-Provide tailored engineering support for major systems that are under design, upgrade, and preparing to enter operations and maintenance phases.
-Coordinate technical discussions with other activities to identify pre-planned product improvements that require Research and Development (R&D) investments.
-Participate in system working groups and technical status meetings/reviews developing inputs, documenting proceedings, and completing actions items.
-Develop original designs, modifications and alteration drawings, plans and technical instructions.
-Provide engineering technical work document (TWD) preparation and revision support services for the projects assigned. The work will include labor and cost estimating, preparation and/or revision of technical work documents in the Advanced Industrial Management (AIM) database and preparation of Job Material Lists (JMLs) in the Material Requirements (MRQT) database.
-Provide deficiency resolution support using Deficiency Logs (DLs) and Deficiency Reports (DRs) for the projects assigned.
-Develop, prepare, and revise testing requirements/procedures.
-Troubleshoot systems, hardware, and/or software, reports findings, proposes solutions to identified and reported problems, and implements repairs.
Skills and Abilities:
-Knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, principles, and practices applicable to all aspects of the Deep Submergence Systems Program (DSSP) and host interfaces.
-Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal)
-Familiarity with submarine technical design products
-Experience working with the NAVSEA Technical community
-Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
-Experience with 3-Dimensional modeling and drafting software (Solid Works, Solid Edge, or similar)

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
The typical workday is eight hours in length. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, with concurrence from the supervisor. The employee must be available during the "core" work hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and must account for the hours in a pay period to maintain full-time status.
Travel:
Up to 10% travel may be required.
