KBR is seeking a Sr. Manager, Marine Science Support. The successful candidate will serve as a senior staff member overseeing all of the marine science support required by the USAP. The candidate will understand all aspects of the marine science support functions on board the USAP research vessels, seasonal planning, and science support logistics. Experience with research in polar regions is required. Experience with academia and grant processes from inception to deployment is required. Ability to be creative to ensure the PI’s are able to meet their research schedules and conduct research in the USAP is required. The Sr. Manager, Marine Science Support will report directly to the Director of Science Support.

Travel: Candidate may be required to travel to remote regions for extended TDY and must be willing to travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations as needed.

Security Clearance: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation to be qualified for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the subcontract (R/V charter agreement) on behalf of KBR; coordinate, manage and direct all aspects of the shipboard program, including safety orientation for all new personnel; adhere to program schedules
  • Work directly with the Ship’s Master and Chief Scientist to plan and execute the science plan and schedule
  • Direct and coordinate all off ship excursions to land/bases/zodiacs/ and oversee the execution of academic research endeavors

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry, or Biology
  • PhD in Oceanography, Marine Biology, or other marine research-related subjects is desired
  • At least 25 years of science research support/planning experience and/or a combination of grantee participation and support is desired
  • Must have demonstrated experience performing qualitative and quantitative analysis
  • Demonstrated utilization of risk management and tools in project execution
  • Must be articulate and able to communicate with multiple levels of clients and stakeholders
  • Must have current working knowledge of science industry standards and certifications
  • Experience with managing and executing government projects and/or research grants
  • Remote and/or austere environment experience is required

Additional Requirements: Candidate may be required to successfully complete medical, dental and psychological pre-qualification exams to be eligible for this position.

Salary Range: $120,917.06 - $151,146.32 - $181,375.58
