Title:
Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer
KBR is seeking a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer to work at Goddard SFC in Greenbelt, MD. This position will utilize CAD software and works with engineers and analysts to translate concepts, constraints, and other requirements into physical concepts and drawings as defined by the Mechanical, Electrical, Electro - Mechanical, Mechanism, or Optical Engineers. Supports generation of assembly procedures and design review documentation to describe assembly and/or integration processes.
Must be U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
Job Duties
- Main focus will be on the CAD development and drawing production
- Generating engineering drawings per ASME Y14.100
- Specifically generating detail drawings, assembly drawings, interface drawings, and source control drawings per ASME Y14.24 and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5-2009
- Performs flight and ground hardware design of new products and existing hardware upgrades
- Implements the maintenance and repair requirements associated with the hardware.
- Troubleshoots hardware and works the resolution of out of spec and failure conditions
- Develops procedures for hardware assembly, testing, manufacturing, and materials
- Interfaces with customers associated with project, test, and hardware support
- Improves process efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow and equipment requirements
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET)
- 7 + years of Mechanical Engineering experience in the aerospace field
- Knowledge of engineering principles and the ability to apply them to real-time operations is essential
- Significant experience and understanding of ASME Y14.100
- Experience in advanced CAD design and assembly
- Must be able to complete advanced mechanical flight and ground drawings and have advanced knowledge of Geometric Design &Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Have ability to excel in a dynamic environment with changing requirements and priorities while working on multiple tasks and must possess professional attitude
- Previous experience must include:
- Proficient in utilization of Creo/PDMLink
- NASA specifications and standards
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and proven success in collaborative environments
