Job Summary

As a Senior Quality Assurance Analyst, you will lead team members to ensure Giant Eagle own branded products and ingredients are labeled and marketed according to applicable federal regulations and produced at facilities that meet all Giant Eagle and federal regulatory requirements by leading meetings between QA and merchandising, effectively training Team Members in the applicable discipline, auditing vendors and analyzing complaint and sales data.

Job Responsibilities

  • Verify regulatory compliance for all private label items and materials, including product labels, marketing materials, signage, specifications, etc.  
  • Evaluate new suppliers through the Supplier Approval Program
  • Manage all product-related quality activities for assigned categories, including specification approvals, labels reviews and approvals, product monitoring, brand standard compliance verification
  • Coordinate sensory testing to validate new products against brand standards and specification.
  • Evaluate existing suppliers through the Supplier Approval Program to determine compliance and performance
  • Coordinate routine sensory testing to validate products against brand standards.
  • Route documentation to applicable business units for proper review and signature
  • Provide feedback to Customer Care team for customer inquiries
  • Store all applicable vendor and product documentation in Vendor Documentation systems
  • Investigate assigned customer complaints and/or claims; coordinate as needed to the supplier.
  • Lead QA-Own Brand meetings between QA and business partners
  • Evaluate deficiencies of Supplier Partners and make a decision on next steps with the vendor and business partners.
  • May lead and manage TM's under circumstances when necessary to ensure the needs of the quality assurance team are met. Train Internal Team and Business contacts on applicable QA Policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate and determine acceptability of any Corrective Actions submitted by the supplier in response to recalls and/or market withdrawals
  • Serve as on call recall coordinator to ensure any product not meeting regulatory or company standards is pulled from the shelf, customers are notified and all regulatory obligations are met.   This is done both during business hours and off hours
  • Analyze trends in Own Brand complaints to determine possible quality issues that need addressing with the vendor or product removal.   Implement Corrective Action for any findings.
  • Analyze sales data to determine drops in sales for possible quality issues in own brand products.   Implement Corrective Action for any findings.
  • Local and Boutique suppliers without 3rd party audits are evaluated for food safety risks and given corrective actions in order to meet regulatory and Giant Eagle requirements
