HVAC Lead Engineer
KBR's global business consists of two main divisions – Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) and Government Solutions (GS). This particular position is situated within STS, specifically within the Integrated Solutions business unit. Integrated Solutions is responsible for engineering and project delivery, offering services like front-end and detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and program management. These services primarily cater to industries related to hydrocarbons and energy transition.
KBR is offering an exciting opportunity for a technical professional with expertise in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) to lead the HVAC group and act as a subject matter expert. This HVAC group falls under the mechanical discipline.
The responsibilities of this role encompass the following:
Updating corporate HVAC standards, templates, and estimation tools. Assisting the mechanical discipline manager in estimating HVAC hours for proposals.
The ideal candidate should have experience in designing, specifying, selecting, reviewing vendor drawings, and testing services related to HVAC equipment. This experience should span various sectors, including energy transition, onshore and offshore oil, and gas equipment. The necessary skills and competencies are typically cultivated through work at consultant engineering firms, equipment fabrication companies, or end-user companies.
The role demands specialized and comprehensive knowledge of air handling equipment and ductwork designs. This includes the ability to prepare and review philosophies and specifications, air flow diagrams, equipment sizing calculations, 2D layouts, 3D CAD models, and HAZOP scenarios. A familiarity with industry standards for HVAC equipment is also essential.
Preferred qualifications for this position include a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a full professional qualification such as Chartered Engineer status (membership with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers or Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers CIBSE, or an equivalent recognized qualification).
Success in this job hinges on interpersonal skills and effective collaboration with others. The selected candidate should be highly proficient in written and spoken communication and be adept at using standard software like MS Word and MS Excel to prepare technical documents and author technical reports.
