Role and Responsibility

Strong leader for multi compound cross-functional antibody product clinical development

Genmab has a robust pipeline of innovative human antibody therapeutics and a number of strategic partnerships are already in place with international blue chip companies. The company is continuing its positive growth and development, striving towards its goal of improving the lives of oncology patients with unmet medical needs.

As Japan Development Team Leader at Genmab, you will provide leadership to a cross-functional clinical project team. You will report to the Head of Japan Project Leadership & Management.

As JDTL you will:

  • Develop and execute the program strategy for antibody development projects from candidate selection to approval.

  • Lead Japan Compound Teams (JCoT) projects at different stages of clinical development.

  • Build team and maintain team effectiveness and satisfaction and lead the Japan Development team to achieve its goals through the networks of people/functions represented on the team. When necessary, negotiate with line function heads on project deliverables, locally and globally.

  • Challenge all functions on the JCoT to ensure that all issues and questions are being addressed, and that line function input into strategy and plans is adequate to meet the needs of the compound.

  • Identify potential issues and lead contingency planning; lead Japan development problem solving and apply decision-making tools and techniques. JCoT to make effective and efficient decisions.

  • Lead resolution of conflict at the JCoT, Compound Development Team (CDT, Global), Project Board (and potentially Portfolio Board), joint steering committee (for a partnered compound) and senior management levels, as needed.

  • Act as Japan development representative (for the designated compound) of joint development teams with alliance partner(s) and align global strategy within a partnership, as applicable.

  • Lead the communication of strategy, issues, and plans to the CDT, Project Board, Portfolio Board, alliance partners and other key stakeholders, as applicable.

  • Be accountable for overall project plan.

  • Work with functional management to secure the required resources for project success, to influence optimal team composition, to align goals and objectives with JCoT members, to coach and guide JCoT members and to provide information that serves as a reference for performance evaluation of JCoT members.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of work experience as a Program Lead in biotechnology or

  • Life Science companies, including J-NDA submission and approval.

  • Strong expertise with development projects (preferably biologics) in oncology area.

  • Fluent (business-level) English conversation skills for communicating with Global team

  • Experienced Project Manager/Lead with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. As a leader, you are flexible, agile and results-oriented with a strong focus on executing strategy and delivering on objectives. You are a builder of high performing cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.

  • Valid working visa or permanent residency in Japan.

  • Native level Japanese in verbal, reading, & writing.
