A BRIEF OVERVIEW
Under direction, the Journeyman Electrician is responsible for trouble shooting and repairing electrical systems, apparatus and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment per electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and/or other specifications. The Journeyman Electrician will maintain, repair, and replace as necessary electrical wiring, equipment, and electrical products. Journeyman Electrician will ensure electrical systems are constructed and maintained to NEC and State of Oregon code and will ensure that all electrical installations meet minimum OSHA safety standards.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Requests permits from Signing Supervising electrician if not licensed prior to requesting an inspection. This is a requirement under Oregon Administrative Rule 918-309-0000 (Electrical Permits).

  • Respond to off shift calls and ability to work weekends and holidays as needed.

  • Completes all required training.

  • Uses hand tools and testing instruments to diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components and isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment.

  • Replaces faulty switches, sockets, and other elements of electrical systems.

  • Dismantles electrical machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts such as gears, brushes, and armatures.

  • Mounts motors, transformers and lighting fixtures into position and completes circuits according to diagram specifications.

  • Inspects completed work for conformance with requirements of local building and safety codes. Coordinates all electrical inspections, annual or as needed.

  • Estimates time and material costs on electrical projects

  • Requisitions new electrical supplies and equipment.

  • Performs preventive maintenance as per established schedule in CMMS and maintain accurate records in the CMMS.

  • Maintain parts and service materials inventory. Maintain work area, tools and equipment in a clean and organized condition.

  • Maintain and support PLC/Automated controls. Maintain and support data cabling, server rack equipment, and distribution points. 

  • Ensures that all electrical installations meet minimum safety standards of The National Electrical Code 

  • Ensures that corrections issued by the inspecting jurisdiction will be completed in a timely manner

  • Responsible for ensuring that proper permits and/or labels are obtained and properly and visibly posted.

  • May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group

  • Provides guidance on complex electrical issues

  • Directs, supervises, makes, controls, and services all installations, maintenance, replacement and repair of electrical wiring, electrical equipment and circuits, controls and other electrical products. This includes direct or indirect supervision of all licensed electricians and apprentices employed at the plant.

  • Plans and designs layout electrical installations either new or modifications in conjunction with plant engineering

  • Ensures that persons performing electrical installations and work are properly licensed

  • Advocates for the health and safety of self, co-workers, customers, and the community.

  • Support quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS).


EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Or Equivalent (Required)


EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ Years of experience in electrical work (Preferred)


LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Journeyman Licensure Any (Required)

  • Electrical Certification Trade School or Other (Required)
