MLT Base pay rate: $24.94 – $27.43

MT Base pay rate: $33.82 to $37.20

In this Client Service Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory role, you will:

Under the general supervision of the Client Services Manager or Client Services Supervisor and in accordance with Company policies, procedures, and guidelines, this position:

                                                                                                          

  • Understands routine laboratory test procedures outlined in the laboratory standard operating procedure manuals and reported test results.  Understand quality assurance and quality control procedures in relation to results.
  • Correlates clinical information and/or previous lab results and reports discrepancies to Medical Technologist, Sr., or supervisors.  Consult with superiors or pathologists when no preset criteria for decision-making is available before taking action.
  • Can collect and direct the collection of specimens with rigid attention to proper patient identification, priority status, and hospital and laboratory safety and infection control policies for clinical testing
  • Troubleshoot specimen problems or questionable results with technologist or pathologist
  • Troubleshoots and investigates processing, handling, and transport errors relating to Test In Question(TIQ) issues.
  • Works with and communicates with CLH staff as well as outside reference labs to provide for patient needs
  • Provides guidance and answers to CLH staff, MD offices, hospital staff, outside reference laboratories, and patients
  • Ensures appropriate supplies are always on hand in their assigned area
  • May be rotated to other shifts as necessary
  • Trains or instructs laboratory personnel in laboratory testing requirements and procedures
  • Participates in established TQM activities. Evaluate and report quality. Analyze, review, and report testing results.
  • Recognize when corrective action is needed and implement effective solutions.
  • Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with biological and chemical hazards
  • Champion safety, compliance, and quality control

All you need is:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in medical technology or related science from an accredited program
  • Current and active certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) as a laboratory scientist (MLS), formerly known as MT/CLS or American Medical Technologist, as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) (AMT).
  • Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including but not limited to telephones, computers, automated analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, manual and automated pipettes, and audible alarms
