Job Type Full-timeDescription POSITION SUMMARY:Successfully promote and support the mission of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas as guided by the Catholic Social Teachings while assisting recently-arrived refugees and immigrants participating in the U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement's Matching Grant (MG) Program. The Refugee MG Case Manager will adhere to all relevant program guidelines in providing direct case management to participants in the MG Program by eliminating barriers relating to employment, education, health, transportation, social adjustment, and basic needs with the goal of self-sufficiency, economic, and otherwise. This requirement includes any public speech, demonstration, or writing including the use of social media or other digital technologies Must complete VIRTUS training, background screening, drug testing, and any ongoing training as required Provide case management services for a caseload of refugee & immigrant clients participating in the MG program Ensure participants are well-versed in their MG Program rights, responsibilities and financials Develop and implement MG Self-Sufficiency Plans (SSP) with focus on eliminating barriers to self-sufficiency and job placement as soon as possible Develop and maintain relationships with agency partners to ensure clients have the resources they need to become successful/self-sufficient Complete client enrollments and budgets, request checks and payments when needed for clients and on behalf of clients Conduct regular check-in meetings with clients on a weekly, monthly basis as well as when clients reach certain milestones in the program Refer participants both in-house and externally as part of their SSP while serving as a liaison to service providers Adhere to Office of Refugee Resettlement and in-house guidelines in service provision and documentation Conduct home and field visit assignments as needed and in accordance with agency health and safety protocol Track participants' progress in electronic case files, noting any delays in progress, documenting client activities, interactions with clients, and certain milestones clients meet while enrolled the program Scanning and filing of documents as well as other basic administrative functions in managing caseload All other duties as assignedRequirementsMINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Must have competent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills in English; fluency in a second language (Burmese, Dari, Swahili, etc.) preferred, but not required Must be willing to live by the agency's Values, where we are called to show Love, Patience, Kindness, Faithfulness, Self- Control and Joy Bachelor's Degree in social work or human service field or comparable experience is preferred Ability to work effectively in an environment that is multi-cultural and multi-lingual without preference to any certain language, ethnic, nationality, or religious groups Knowledge of public policy and how it affects refugees and similar immigrants Ability to effectively utilize interpreters Strong typing & internet skills as well as the ability to learn Microsoft Outlook, Excel and various database programs Ability to interact effectively with outside agencies and advocate on behalf of the program and its participants Must be reliable, punctual, professional, and respond appropriately to people in crisis Must be able to work independently from general instructions Must have competent organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality Must be occasionally conduct client meetings during evening and weekend hours Must have a valid driver's license, car insurance, a verified safe driving record and reliable means of transportation for local travel; must provide a copy of license and insuranceMust be willing and able to transport clients in personal vehicle at times and/or transport clients in agency vehicle(s) when needed PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, standing, bending and movingMust be able to lift up to 10 pounds Must have the physical ability to make visits to a variety of environments that may include walking on rough terrain and climbing stairsMust have physical ability to effectively communicate with othersMust have the physical ability and appropriate licensure for driving
