What do you do?

Join us in the Procurement Execution Center as a Procurement Product-Costing Analyst.

In this role, you will be responsible for executing our Competitive Product Cost Analysis (CPC) playbook, by performing data collection, interpreting drawings, consolidating data, finding material price differences, and building the foundation for statistical analysis such as linear price progression (LPP).

Additionally, this role will work with the PEC Data Engineering team to create our Cost Analytics Data Warehouse.

How will you do it?

  • Collect, mine information across a variety of JCI drawing repositories, to effectively build an attribute database for the specified commodity. Employee must be able to analyze drawings, identify gaps and enrich attribute data as required.
  • Work closely with Central & Plant Engineering Teams to ensure all drawings are made available as required by the Procurement organization.
  • Perform & execute our CPC Playbook by analyzing identical parts and finding potential savings opportunities, as well as studying consolidated reports of similar parts and using statistical techniques to compute cost gaps.
  • Develop an understanding of cost models for each analyze SKU and commodity, in order to identify potential cost opportunities.
  • Prepare & build a pre-analysis report which allows Procurement Category & Buying teams to execute on the findings.
  • Build fact packs & negotiation packages for Procurement team to execute accordingly.
  • Work with our Data Engineering team to build a master database to build an attribute database and provide inputs as required to build the analytical/statistical model that will be used to perform advanced costing analytics. 
  • Understand standard cost variances at an SKU level and tie to respective cost driver indices to identify potential cost reduction opportunities and build proper action plans to execute cost corrective measures.
  • Analyze PPV performance and isolate causes that may derive in cost containment/reduction opportunities.
  • Support Market Intelligence activities, Economics measurements, and putting together meaningful reports for different levels of stakeholders in pursuit of benchmarking information to enable our analytical output.
  • Other procurement & costing activities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • +2 years of experience in Procurement or Engineering.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field. Engineering degrees preferred as the candidate will be required to read and interpret drawings, as well as building a deep knowledge of the assigned sub-categories.
  • Strong MS Software skills required – advanced excel preferred (e.g. Arrays, INDEX/MATCH).
  • Descriptive statistics are required. Candidate will be expected to increase their statistics/math abilities as they mature in the role.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement, by identifying opportunities, streamlining processes, and utilizing Lean/Quality tools to reduce waste and maximize throughput.
  • Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of cost structures, manufacturing processes and cost drivers.
  • Capability to learn and understand the business and the assigned categories, to develop business judgment, which will allow the candidate to better execute and generate value for JCI.
  • Relevant experience/knowledge in Data Analytics
  • Data skills such as querying databases (SQL, HQL), automation (Power Automate/VBA) or analysis (Python-pandas) are a plus.
  • Business/conversational English is a must due to the nature of the role.
