Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Primarily responsible for managing several large multi-user Unix systems with Oracle and Sybase databases.



Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical EngineeringFour years of UNIX System Administration experience will substitute for Bachelor’s degree, or Associate’s degree in Information Technology field and two years of experience in UNIX administration will substitute for Bachelor’s degree.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSES:  Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional required or must attain within one year.

SKILLS: Knowledge of IBM AIX. Capable of monitoring systems performance, disk usage, file systems, and devices. Ability to program in the Bourne shell. Experienced with TCP/IP and other networking protocols. Proficient in user account management.  Ability to analyze and research problem independently, ability to explain complex solutions and problems to users (regardless of their technical ability), excellent problem solving and communication skills, good technical writing and documentation skills, all required. 

EXPERIENCE:

Four years experience in managing multi-user large Unix environments required. Three years experience with Oracle Database Administration preferred.

NATURE OF SUPERVISION:

-Responsible to: Manager, Technology Services

ENVIRONMENT:

- Bloodborne pathogens-A

General office setting with exposure to computer room environment. Exposure to patient care and ancillary biohazards. Extended video display exposure and use of keyboard.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift and transfer objects typically not in excess of 50 lbs. May be required to reach objects typically not in excess of 5 lbs. up to 8 ft. above the floor with the assistance of a step stool. Extended use of video display terminal and keyboard utilizing sound ergonomic principles.
