**Job Title: Gas System Operations Engineer** **Overview** Supports natural gas System Operations supervisors and field technicians related to equipment risk management programs for maintenance, compliance, and reliability. Serves as the subject matter expert for system and equipment operations during design and system changes, including emergencies and weather related events. **Principle Duties and Responsibilities** + Provide technical support to department supervisors and field technicians for all operational equipment (i.e. valves, actuators, vessels, pumps, tanks, heaters, measurement devices, instrumentation and controls). + Develop department best practices and training to ensure safety, compliance, operational consistency, and rigor. + Liaison between System Operations department and other departments to support overall organizational objectives (i.e. Corrosion, Environmental, Safety, Major Projects, Engineering, etc). + Champion and implement Operational Excellence and Safety Management System ideals, processes, and practices. + Define and manage system reliability programs thru O&M and capital funding sources utilizing internal and contractor resources. + Respond to and support supervisors during emergency and weather-related events, including field response. + Own and update the emergency operating procedures and emergency stock lists. + Utilize system dashboards (i.e. SCADA, GIS, PI Vision) to analyze system safety and reliability. + Review and approve procedures, designs, and standards that impact department practices and assets. + Produce and manage asset lifecycle metrics. + Improve asset records and lifecycle management. + Manage chemical inventories-based consumption analysis + Prepare reports to meet regulatory requirements. **Required Qualifications for Position** This position will be filled based on the skillset of the candidate and will be filled as one of the below job family titles: **Required for Selection:** + Bachelor’s degree in engineering/technology curriculum from a 4 year ABET accredited college or university. + Strong analytical skills with ability to understand data collection requirements + Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally + Skilled in data analysis and ability to interpret data trends, and data driven understanding of risk in the asset class + Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, specifically Excel and PowerPoint **Preferred for Selection:** + Master’s degree in Business or Engineering + Engineering in Training (EIT) license + Professional Engineering (PE) license + Project Management Professional (PMP) certification + Experience working in geographically dispersed company + Operations and/or engineering experience in any of the following: natural gas distribution and transmission system operations activities, heavy industrial utilities, petrochemical/refinery/chemical plant, and electric generation. + Competency ratings of “High” in areas of: Safety Leadership, Courage, Facilitating Change, Creating a Culture of Trust, Driving a Questioning Mindset, Decision Making, Delegation and Empowerment, Ensuring Accountability, Coaching, and Optimizing Diversity. **Operations Engineer 1:** + 0 years related work experience. + Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills + Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills + Understanding of the utility industry Preferred: + Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills + Knowledge of natural gas distribution and transmission operations. + Knowledge of equipment reliability principles + Knowledge of equipment troubleshooting related to valves, actuators, vessels, pumps, tanks, heaters, measurement devices, instrumentation and controls. + Knowledge of theory of gas flow dynamics, gas quality management, and gas equipment design specifications. + Knowledge of 49 PHMSA CFR 191 and 192. + Knowledge of industry standards related to natural gas distribution and transmission operations. + Knowledge of asset policies, procedures, and standards + Knowledge of technical business applications (e.g. SCADA, GIS, WMS, CIS, MAXIMO) **Operations Engineer 2:** + 2 to 4 years related work experience + Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills + Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills + Knowledge of the natural gas utility industry + Knowledge of equipment reliability principles. + Knowledge of equipment troubleshooting related to valves, actuators, vessels, pumps, tanks, heaters, measurement devices, instrumentation and controls. + Knowledge of theory of gas flow dynamics, gas quality management, and gas equipment design specifications + Knowledge of 49 PHMSA CFR 191 and 192. + Knowledge of industry standards related to natural gas distribution and transmission operations. + Knowledge of asset policies, procedures, and standards + Knowledge of technical business applications (e.g. planning, and project management skills + Demonstrated knowledge of the gas utility industry + Demonstrated knowledge of equipment reliability principles + Demonstrated knowledge of equipment troubleshooting related to valves, actuators, vessels, pumps, tanks, heaters, measurement devices, instrumentation and controls. + Demonstrated knowledge of theory of gas flow dynamics, gas quality management, and gas equipment design specifications + Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards related to natural gas distribution and transmission operations. + Demonstrated knowledge of asset policies, procedures, and standards + Demonstrated knowledge of technical business applications (e.g. DIS, GIS, WMS, CIS, MAXIMO) + Preferred: + Prior natural gas distribution and transmission field operations experience. **Senior Operations Engineer:** + 7+ years related work experience + Demonstrated leadership experience over complex programs or projects + Demonstrated knowledge of the gas utility industry + Demonstrated knowledge of equipment reliability principles + Demonstrated knowledge of equipment troubleshooting related to valves, actuators, vessels, pumps, tanks, heaters, measurement devices, instrumentation and controls. + Demonstrated knowledge of theory of gas flow dynamics, gas quality management, and gas equipment design specifications + Demonstrated knowledge of 49 PHMSA CFR 191 and 192. + Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards related to natural gas distribution and transmission operations. + Demonstrated knowledge of asset policies, procedures, and standards + Demonstrated knowledge of technical business applications (e.g. DIS, GIS, WMS, CIS, MAXIMO) + Prior natural gas distribution and transmission field operations experience.
