Finance & Accounting

Job Summary:

The incumbent will maintain required accounting records, including timely and accurate financial statement preparation. This includes the preparation of management reporting and analysis. Trains, develops and appraises staff in order to maintain a high level of work efficiency, competency and flexibility.

The incumbent identifies and initiates process improvement projects (both business process and technology driven), The incumbent will coordinate the preparation of day-to-day corporate accounting, including but not limited to, fixed asset transactions, Corporate SG&A, revenue transactions, journal entries, payroll entries and account reconciliations. Creates and maintains strong control environment across the organization.

Matrix Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, guidance, coaching, and process oversight for accounting, financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting areas of the corporate controller’s group
  • Provides direction to individuals regarding their roles and responsibilities to help meet the overall Company objectives, along with the role the department has in fulfilling corporate goals
  • Empowers and promotes the proper level of responsibility and authority for others to learn, grow into new responsibilities and make the proper decisions to obtain the overall department objectives
  • Demonstrates the highest level of integrity and trust in all aspects of the job by working continually towards self-development, staying abreast of all current information and technology, and be knowledgeable with FASB & AICPA governing bodies affecting functional areas to increase innovation and ensure compliance
  • Promotes the corporate controller’s group by developing strong relationships between department members and other CF departments through a high degree of communication across management
  • Promotes the matrix organizational structure, including cross communication, and encourages cross involvement between people and groups

Accounting

  • Responsible for coordinating and reviewing journal entries and account analysis; along with coordinating control procedures for the general ledger system
  • Coordinates and reviews analyses and exhibits for the financial statement commentary package
  • Coordinates and reviews preparation and issuance of various reports to management
  • Work with CF internal and external auditors
  • Assistance in adopting new accounting policies and new accounting standards
  • Accounting research and special projects as requirements arise

Staff Supervision and Development

  • Plans, coordinates and reviews work assignments
  • Identifies training needs of subordinates and provides means to meet the needs including conducting formal employee training sessions

Other Areas

  • Develop greater analyses skills across the finance team
  • Performs or directs the performance of special projects as assigned
  • Initiates, researches and documents improvements to current methods and procedures leveraging teams of indirect reports while also aligning with the appropriate stakeholders
  • With approval, investigates and implements process changes to promote internal controls to efficiently process department transactions and other responsibilities

Internal Controls:

Establishes and implements processes and procedures to meet departmental internal controls requirements. Ensures that established processes/procedures are followed as designed. Works with Internal Controls Department to identify deficiencies in existing processes/procedures, the need for new ones, and the extent to which such processes/procedures are being followed.  Develops and implements corrective actions with regard to department internal controls, as necessary.

Successful incumbents will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree with major in Accounting or equivalent, CPA and/or MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in various areas of accounting with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Must be knowledgeable of automated accounting software systems (i.e. SAP)
  • Must be PC-literate within a windows environment and have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Applications
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills

Position Scope/Contribution:

This position interfaces with all personnel in the Corporate Controller’s department, plant accounting staffs, Information Technology, Tax, Treasury and various other corporate office departments.  The individual must have an understanding of the business environment and its impact on the financial statements of the Company.
