The Senior Proposal Manager will be responsible for all aspects of responding to client service expansion opportunities, with a focus on high-value nationwide opportunities and those where developing an ongoing relationship can lead to significant, profitable work. This person has an integral role in the firm's business development efforts by managing the development of competitive, high-quality RFP responses and proposals from start to finish. The ideal candidate thrives in a team atmosphere, takes pride in their work, and is committed to a proactive, process-driven approach that maximizes and allocates resources appropriate to the opportunity. This position will work closely with the Chief Marketing Officer, senior members of the proposal team, members of the BD team, and senior attorneys to ensure that an approach consistent with the firm guidelines for pitching work is followed. The Senior Proposal Manager will also be responsible for creating content tailored to specific opportunities.

Essential Functions

Work with senior members of the proposal team to manage the proposal process from assignment through submission.

Review and edit proposal drafts to ensure narratives are compelling, compliant, consistent, and concise.

Manage key opportunities and marshal necessary resources to ensure proposals of superior quality are consistently delivered.

Approve key proposals before submission to ensure final product is responsive to the client request, error free, visually appealing, and all aspects of the pitch are reflective of the firm's key differentiators.

Coordinate with business development colleagues to facilitate interview preparation and debrief.

Work with subject matter experts, industry and practice group leaders, and other stakeholders to craft language for their areas of practice.

Work directly with HR, IT and accounting staff to answer specific RFP questions.

Lead proposals during high volume periods when necessary.

Maintain and ensure adherence to the Proposal Manager Guidelines and work with the CMO and senior members of the proposal team on process improvements.

Collaborate with marketing and business development colleagues to maintain and enhance proposal materials, including practice and industry specific information, firm messaging, and representative matter experience.

Work with business development and marketing colleagues to create and share ideas for more dynamic and responsive pitch materials.

Stay current on proposal development trends and make recommendations to management for improvement.

Assist with reporting and other metrics, including year-end and ad hoc internal reports.

Help evaluate and potentially implement a content management system for the firm.

Qualifications/Skills Required
10+ years of business development and/or marketing related experience in a law firm or other professional service environment; senior proposal team experience preferred.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the flexibility and creativity to respond strategically to individualized needs of attorneys.

Significant project management experience with a client-service focus, flexibility, and a can-do attitude.

Proactive approach with high levels of personal drive and energy.

Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously on tight deadlines.

Ability to work with and lead remote teams of partners, lawyers and BD/marketing professionals.

Ability to manage demands outside of traditional business hours.

Excellent research, analytical and detail-oriented skills.

Experience with online and print proposal submissions and content management systems.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

For Arizona, California, Georgia, Oregon and Washington, the expected salary range for this position is between $134,000 and $224,100. This position is also eligible for annual bonuses. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
