What you will do 

A Johnson Controls Security Technician is a troubleshooter and service expert possessing knowledge and experience with intrusion, IP CCTV, access control and fire alarm systems from multiple manufacturers. Candidate will possess strong verbal communication skills as they identify the needs of the customer and then inform them of next steps and processes to repair the system as needed to return full functionality. Candidate will possess skills and experience to inspect said systems to ensure proper functionality and provide written or digital reports to customer and company as needed.

How you will do it

  •  Locate and alleviate trouble with damaged equipment or wiring.

  • Readjust equipment, repair, or replace inoperative equipment and test for operation.

  • Coordinate inspections and/or installations with police, fire departments, or other appropriate agencies.

  • Performs repair and/or inspections of intrusion detection, IP CCTV, Access Control systems and fire alarms (if applicable).

  • Assists fellow service technicians with system repairs and completes minor repairs including battery replacement.

  • Tests operation of system to the customer monitoring center to properly establish service connectivity.

  • Complete all forms accurately and customer paperwork as required.

What we look for

Required

  • Five to Seven years’ experience in designing, installing, inspecting, and repairing integrated fire and security systems/applications.

  • Advanced skills in computer operations and programs, as well as IP Backbone Architecture, TCP/IP protocol.

  • Ability to effectively interact with internal organization and customers.

  • Experienced in multiple major brands of security and fire manufacturer products.

  • Ability to interpret blueprints, building plans, electrical, schematics and sprinkler/fire plans.

  • Ability to occasionally travel out of town to customer locations and training.

  • Ability to pass government background and drug test.

  • Available after hours to provide off-site software and hardware support and if required on-site support to resolve system failures for integrated applications.

  • NICET Fire Level II Fire Alarm

  • FASA/BASA certification

  • High School Diploma required.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.

  • Valid driver license.

Preferred

  • Project Management skills     

  • Cisco Certifications (CCNA or higher) and SE or FE, MCSE

  • NICET III Fire alarm

  • NICET Access Control and CCTV

  • Associate Degree in Computer Sciences or Technologies
