This team is responsible to:
Deliver right messages to the right customer at the right moment via Email and Push channels Experiment and iterate on key conversion paths and partner with other teams to share takeaways and standard methodologies
Innovate and test new features/products/businesses

We are looking for someone who can help us build email templating infrastructure that will power enable us to deliver the best email experience to our users over several email clients on many devices.

About the role

You will work closely with email designers, email engineers and software developers to create an email templating framework that will enable our larger product communications team to send the best looking emails.  We’re looking for a back-end developer who has interests in email templating, email design, creating a system to make email templating easier, and also using the system they built to create new templates for our users. Emails are written using a templating language called Freemarker which renders to HTML. The email templating framework is being written in Java, our tooling is in python.

This is a newly formed team since the start of 2024, so we're looking for someone to join on the ground floor and help us shape our team! Looking for a curious developer with skills in back-end who isn't afraid to work on the front-end, and is interested in UI/UX. This role has been categorized as a teleworker position. Teleworkers do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any part of Mexico, but preferably in Mexico City, as we would encourage attendance for occasional in-office events.

In addition to a competitive base salary and benefits, this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location.

Who you are

• 2-4 years of experience coding in Java or a similar OO language

• Experience using git (Gitlab pipeline experience is a plus)

• Experience with some AWS offerings

• Experience or interest in automated validation of html

• Experience using a templating language like Freemarker or similar language

• Familiarity with design systems or similar strategies applied to email development that enable scale and reuse

• Ability to independently define timelines, milestones, and resource requirements for email development projects and initiatives

• Ability to communicate email development technical constraints and solutions that strategically address business goals and user needs to team members, stakeholders, and executives

• Bonus

• Capacidad para comunicar limitaciones técnicas y soluciones de desarrollo de correo electrónico que aborden estratégicamente los objetivos comerciales y las necesidades de los usuarios a los miembros del equipo, las partes interesadas y los ejecutivos.
