Job Description

Position Summary

The Senior Sales Engineer is expected to operate on both strategic and tactical levels to lead and oversee our U.S Heavy Construction Engineering department that supports Roll Form Group's growth, profitability, and performance objectives within an environment that is safe and a culture that is respectful. Some travel to industry events, customer jobsites, and customer locations is required - up to 5-15%. This position will report directly to the General Manager of Heavy Construction.

Key Accountabilities

  • Oversee and manage our U.S. Heavy Construction Engineering responsibilities, policies, processes, and controls that supports sales and rentals, continuous improvement, operational excellence, and a culture of health and safety.
  • Lead and oversee the Engineering team performing material take-offs, Bills of Materials requirements, layout drawings, and estimating.
  • Manage the pipeline of project opportunities, from public tenders, through quoting, proper product applications, award, and to furnishing products.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement changes to improve productivity, reduce manufacturing and scrap costs, optimize labor, and mitigate the need for rework in the rental yard.
  • Direct the establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards, as required.
  • Approve product application and various conditions for agreements with customers and suppliers for the U.S. Heavy Construction business unit.
  • Support Sales and participate in SOP reviews.
  • Manage, hire, mentor, and support direct reports to ensure their department successfully supports the strategic and competitive objectives of Roll Form Group.
  • Work closely with the Iuka Operations team to insure product compliance and acceptance protecting the integrity of our Cold Formed Steel Sheet piling products offering.
  • Work with the industry to promote and/or defend our cold formed products.
  • Insure that our use of technology is up-to-date
  • Oversee Health & Safety along with our Yard Manager
Qualifications
  • BS in Civil Engineering preferred.
  • 4-5 years of Civl engineering experience in the Heavy Civil Construction industry.
  • Proven hands-on performer - willing and capable of building teams and a business in an entrepreneurial setting; not afraid to "roll up his/her sleeves to get the job done."
  • Experience in a fast paced, customer service-based manufacturing company characterized by engineered to order.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, build, and retain a top-caliber team.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills including:
  • Ability to articulate the company's ongoing strategic vision into sound operating plans and processes,
  • Ability to focus and motivate employees
  • Ability to lead and foster productive interaction with and among team members
  • Strong contract negotiation experience
