Responsibilities

  • Extracorporeal circulation/cardiopulmonary support
  • Counter-pulsation
  • Circulatory support/ventricular assistance 
  • Blood conservation techniques/auto transfusion
  • Myocardial preservation
  • Anticoagulation and hematologic monitoring/analysis 
  • Physiological monitoring/analysis 
  • Blood gas and blood chemistry monitoring/analysis 
  • Induction of hypothermia/hyperthermia with reversal
  • Hemodilution
  • Hemofiltration
  • Administration of medications, blood components, and anesthetic agents via the extracorporeal circuit per direction of a physician 
  • Documentation associated with described duties
  • Active involvement in QA/I and QC implementation and monitoring
  • Must remain certified in CPR
  • Must maintain an active national certification status and current Texas state licensure with all regulations. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of perfusion technology
  • Three (3) years of experience as a cardiovascular perfusionist
  • Nationally certified and have/be eligible for Texas state licensure
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS)
