Duties also include completing work orders and supervising trustees and inmates on work details. This is a part time position and it reports to the radio unit supervisor. Duties Install and mount emergency equipment, to include emergency lights, light and siren controller, sirens, speakers, rifle racks, police radios, antennas, flash lights, computer stands, and other related hardware in all vehicles purchased for the agency. Programs siren controller emergency light flash patterns.Instruct deputies regarding the operation of emergency equipment.Install and remove speed-measuring equipment (RADAR, LIDAR) in vehicles as necessary.Service, diagnose, and repair all LED Message Boards owned/operated by the agency. Purchase replacement parts and perform tests and repairs as necessary. Service and repair message boards for Clay County Public Safety as required.Install, and assist other units in the agency to install, equipment in the command post, SWAT Tactical Operations Center, and other specialty vehicles, related to the Radio Units purview, such as satellite data equipment, uninterruptible power supplies, and radio communication stations.Design and create equipment mounting configurations for new types of vehicles for which a standard layout and configuration does not exist. Fabrication of mounting brackets and produce creative solutions to accomplish this end as necessary.Design and build electrical systems in new vehicles as necessary, incorporating vehicle electronics or interface modules as necessary and interfacing such things with the aftermarket electronics installed.Serve as essential personnel for the agency, and perform duties related to this rating, including being placed on a stand-by status during natural disasters such as hurricanes, and work extended hours during disaster periods to staff the Radio Unit facility 24 hours a day.Removal of all equipment from decommissioned vehicles in preparation for their disposal and auction.Services, diagnose, and repair emergency equipment in vehicles and modification of existing installations depending on the needs of the agency.Arrange for warranty repairs of affected equipment.Issuance of radio equipment, receive returned radio equipment, and replace faulty radio equipment.Program and provision radios, updates radio aliases in the radio system, and update tracking logs for inventory purposes.Assist other agencies with repairs, radio programming, and training with emergency equipment/radars/radios.Manages and maintains inventory.Enter parts transactions into our PubWorks inventory management software.Ensure their work area is clean, organized, safe, and presentable in accordance with agency policies and procedures.Utilize the two-way radio system according to agency policy and applicable standards to provide and maintain effective communications with agency personnel.Supervise and directs the trustees in the proper performance of their daily tasks while maintaining the security, safety, and control of the inmate/offender pursuant to applicable FMJS regulations and in accordance with agency policies.Remain security conscious at all times and will ensure that access to secured areas is denied to all unauthorized personnel or individuals.Maintain direct supervision of any personnel required or authorized to enter the secured area, and will report any discrepancies in security or emergency related equipment pursuant to FMJS requirements if applicable, and in accordance with agency policy.Transport vehicles to and from dealerships, vendors, between substations, and/or as otherwise directed by authorized individuals in accordance with agency policies/procedures.Operates the vehicles in a courteous manner and will obey all posted road signs and rules/laws of the road while operating an agency owned vehicle.Coordinates both activities to minimize service time and unnecessary delays given an agency vehicle in need of both EVT service and garage repairs/maintenance.Prepare/verify and submit purchase requisitions for supplies/equipment, ensuring all required information is accurate, complete, and submitted to the appropriate authority in a timely manner.Verify the quantity and type once supplies/items are received, and distributes/stores the items/supplies.Ensures that all work orders are accurate and complete, detailing all work performed, parts/supplies used, time started/completed, location of work performed, and any other pertinent or required information.Prioritize maintenance requests based on urgency, safety concerns, available resources/supplies, and other pertinent criteria.Update vendor files to reflect any activity or changes with those files, in accordance with agency policy.Work effectively with colleagues and other agency personnel in order to maximize work area output and services consistent with agency policies.Initiate, develop, and maintain channels of communications and work effectively with inter/intra agency personnel in order to achieve objectives and goals and better serve the needs of the agency and/or community.Processes applicable incoming and outgoing documents and/or files in a timely manner consistent with supervisory direction and/or agency policies/procedures.Participates in cross-training with other co-workers; assists those co-workers when the need arises and learns new tasks by working together as a team.Reports identified or potential maintenance, safety, and/or non-compliance findings, hazards, and incidents to the appropriate personnel and/or department.
