Description

Leidos is seeking a talented Systems Engineer, Mid-Level, to join our diverse team and create unique solutions to complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

Systems Engineers at Leidos are responsible for all aspects system-level technical planning, design, test, and engineering support.  This particular position will perform engineering tasks in support of the U.S. Army 1st Space Brigade’s space control systems. Work is performed in a dynamic environment to develop, test, and support a variety of military SATCOM and commercial space system products. Candidate will work closely with PM, senior engineers, design teams, and supported customers to develop and sustain products throughout all phases of the systems engineering lifecycle. Candidate will be responsible for defining requirements, supporting system architecture definition & design development, validating and integrating hardware and software products, and sustaining fielded systems.  Candidate will collaborate across multiple disciplines to include mechanical, electrical, software, modeling, simulation, safety, and reliability to identify applicable requirements and then ensure the requirements are met while avoiding requirements creep.

Primary Responsibilities

Candidate selected for this position will:

  • Develop and manage the technical baseline for SATCOM and Space Control systems.
  • Perform system requirements analysis, functional analysis, and requirements allocation.  Manage system requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Lead system hardware, software, and network design processes.
  • Perform trade studies and develop analysis of alternatives.  Provide design recommendations that consider technical requirements, cost, schedule, and risk.
  • Plan and lead system development and integration projects.
  • Plan and lead system test, verification, and validation efforts.
  • Analyze system design, performance, or support issues and provide advice and recommendations to program staff.
  • Provide technical advice, assistance, and engineering services to military SATCOM operators and their managers. Provide telephonic support as required to help isolate and resolve difficult issues.
  • Support the development of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and other proposals.
  • Prepare technical documentation and reports.
  • Assist the sustainment team with the procurement of equipment and parts.
  • Participate in and conduct system and technical training.

Basic Qualifications

Candidate must possess experience and skills in system-of-systems engineering, particularly those necessary to design, document, test, and support mobile SATCOM and space control systems.  Required qualifications include:

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree, with 4-8 years of experience in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of related disciplines such as software, mechanical, and life cycle logistics.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently with minor direction.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Must be reliable and demonstrate a high standard of personal integrity. 
  • Attention to detail, along with the ability to develop clear and concise engineering reports using various tools and techniques to analyze information and present the results.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Candidate must be a resident of the Colorado Springs area or be willing to relocate to the Colorado Springs, Colorado area.
  • Current Secret clearance and eligibility for a Top Secret/SCI clearance is required. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with MATLAB, SolidWorks, Visio, CMMI, Agile, Scrum, Unit testing and code coverage tools, Microsoft Visual Studio, Atlassian software suite, Modeling tools, and Design patterns.
  • Basic understanding of Military testing processes.
  • Experience with Agile development processes.
  • DAWIA Engineering Level 2 certified or other equivalent.
  • DAWIA Information Technology Level 2 certified or other equivalent.
  • DAWIA Test & Evaluation Level 2 certified or other equivalent.
  • Relevant military space control experience. 
  • Current TS/SCI clearance is preferred.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $81,250.00 - $146,875.00
