SUMMARY:

The Sales Engineer is a supportive role, working in a specific region directly and sometimes indirectly with Territory Development Representatives and Regional Sales Managers to grow design-in revenue in the region. The incumbent will need to be well organized, customer centric and technical in order to be successful. The Sales Engineer will provide technical advice, knowledge and support through the design cycle with the goal of a position on the customer's approved vendor list. Success is measured in terms of design confirmations and revenue. The Sales Engineer must work collaboratively with the company's management, engineering, sales, product management and production areas with the goal of providing creative solutions and product expertise to PEI's customers. The position will require the incumbent to be influential and able to build relationships with internal resources as well as external with customers, manufacturers and manufacturer's representatives.

*This position will be covering the Western region of the U.S. so the ideal candidate would live on the West coast*

*Previous technical sales experience with connectors and/or cable assemblies is highly preferred*

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • BA/BS, Electrical or Mechanical engineering degree preferred.
  • Five years (minimum) successful professional selling experience with technical products in a business-to-business environment.
  • 3+ years of experience with cable assemblies and/or interconnect solutions.
  • Working design experience in AutoCAD 2010-2018 and preferred experience in Solid Edge or similar modeling software.
  • Proficient in all computer skills to include the company CRM and Microsoft programs of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to review a design and then provide technically sound feedback to ensure that the finished product will meet/exceed the customer's application requirement and be manufacturable.
  • Proficient at reading and understanding technical drawings, quality requirements and component specifications.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and customer communication skills.
ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create technical drawings and 3D models to support sales/marketing engagements.
  • Maintain relevant industry knowledge both commercial and technical with customers served in your region
  • Proficient at reviewing designs, developing good technically sound suggestions for any issues discovered and effectively communicating those out to the customer.
  • Work with the Proprietary Product Manager on New Product Introductions, including evaluating products, creating assembly instructions and marketing materials.
  • Promote/develop PEI Proprietary solution's that meets or exceeds customers expectations for quality and manufacturability in support of PEI's fiscal objectives.
  • Increase design opportunities utilizing products manufactured and or distributed by PEI for integration into customer solutions.
  • Work directly with the customer's engineering teams to develop/approve PEI drawings within the quoted lead-time. You will be expected to discuss and/or resolve all design issues that arise during the development and launch of the project.
  • Manage PEI's kitting program, and proactively work with sales to offer greater value in our customer engagements.
  • Initiate, coordinate, and conduct seminars/lunch & learns to promote PEI products and value proposition to both our colleagues and customers.
  • Build relationships with manufacturers of products to increase preferential treatment and share of mind.
  • Promote PEI's corporate vision and values to encourage teamwork, continual improvement, customer focus and ethical behavior.
  • Achieve annual budget targets while building the pipeline for future years.
  • Build relationships and work closely with internal resources such as product management, engineering, training as well as other departments.
  • Participate in the annual budget process.
  • Develop industry leading product knowledge through utilization of internal and external resources.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve the process to better and more efficiently launch new products for our customers.
