Job Summary:

The Distribution Facilities Process Safety Management Coordinator is responsible for leading, coordinating, and continuously improving the Process Safety program of this multi-site operation to achieve Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) excellence.

Job Description:

  • Facilitates and drives the continuous improvement of the Distribution Facilities (DF) Process Safety program.
    • Incorporates CF Corporate Process Safety requirements (Process Hazard Analyses, Management of Change, Pre-Startup Safety Review, Incident Investigation, Facility Siting, etc.) into DF programs and processes.
    • Recommends improvements to program and establish a system to achieve better performance .
  • Serves as a DF liaison with CF’s Corporate EHS audit team during PSM/RMP audits.
    • Reviews, writes, and assists DF personnel in responding to PSM/RMP audit findings by ensuring corrective and preventative actions effectively address the findings and reduce risk.
    • Manages corrective and preventative actions to ensure consistency and timeliness across all DF locations.
    • Ensures accuracy and consistency of quarterly PSM/RMP audit status reports.
  • Develops, maintains and improves electronic storage and workflow processes for all Process Safety-related documents, including Process Safety Information, Process Hazard Analyses, Operating Procedures, Management of Change, Pre-Startup Safety Review, Mechanical Integrity, Facility Siting, etc.
  • Coordinates and participates in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) at DF locations. Leads and improves the PHA lifecycle through scheduling, collaborating with third-party PHA facilitators before, during and after PHAs
  • Facilitates the review of PHA action items with leadership to ensure appropriate assignment of action items and due dates
  •  Ensures PHAs are conducted according to best practices and review PHA recommendations during studies to verify that appropriate risk reduction is provided.
  • Serves as the DF representative on the Corporate Process Safety Council to collaborate on company-wide process safety improvements and effectively communicate to DF management, council activities and impact to local process safety programs and processes.
  • Leads root-cause investigations for Process Safety-related incidents at DF locations.
  • Provides project input concerning Process Safety requirements to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, CF and DF programs, Corporate Best Practices, and generally accepted engineering standards. Serves as technical safety resource for large project reviews, including equipment and materials of construction reviews.
  • Assists in identifying training/competency needs and developing training curriculum for Process Safety and Mechanical Integrity. Serves as a training lead for identified areas of improvement.

General Responsibilities

  • Understands the DF product storage and handling processes and associated hazards.
  • Identifies and analyzes Process Safety risks, as well as manage risk improvement actions to closure.
  • Maintains effective communication and working relationships with various groups, including personnel from DF’s Operations, Engineering, and EHS departments as well as personnel from Corporate EHS and the Corporate EHS Audit team.
  • Leads DF process safety culture through communication and collaboration.
  • Travels up to 30% of the time for facility PHAs, Process Safety audits, and attending CF Corporate Council meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Manager, EHS and DF Health Services.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Technology, or Environmental Sciences preferred; or equivalent operational experience.
  • 3 years of experience in chemical/petrochemical/refinery environment with Process Safety responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Prior experience dealing with interpretation, writing, and application of procedures for PSM-covered processes in an administrative and technical role.
  • Strong computer skills with word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, and database-type specialty software.
  • Ability to  be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision.
