Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Plant Mechanic to join our team in Canby, Oregon. As a Plant Mechanic, you will be responsible for safe repair and maintenance of mining equipment typically found in an aggregate facility, including crushers, screen decks, conveyors, drums, etc.

What You'll Get to Do:

  • Perform safety and mechanical inspections of the plant and equipment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance problems to ensure minimum cost and prevent operational delays
  • Maintain cleanliness of plant work areas
  • Assist with plant tasks including lubrication, repairs
  • Utilize equipment in a manner to maximize productivity and minimize wear and down time
  • Report mechanical or maintenance issues with equipment
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations, and with company policies and procedures and rules/laws specified by site, city, state, federal
  • Perform daily equipment inspections, as well as identify and assist in correcting unsafe conditions

Essential Experience and Skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience using (or ability to learn) plant mobile equipment
  • Desire to work cooperatively as part of a productive team
  • Ability to work safely, and independently without constant supervision and be a team player
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Capable of learning through on-the-job training
  • Good attendance and punctuality a must.
  • Display or have some mechanical aptitude for minor preventative maintenance and pre-shift inspections.
  • Report any deviations from the norm that might impact product quality or processing efficiencies.
  • Ability to work in year-round weather conditions, extremes of hot and cold weather.
  • Must have the physical ability to: climb, stoop, bend, squat, lift (up to 75 lbs.), sit and stand for extended periods of time, kneel, climb ladders, and walk on varied terrain
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule with flexible hours, hours vary; overtime work, weekends, and nights may be required.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Previous experience in open pit mining operations and aggregate products is an asset
  • Previous experience in welding, torching, and fabrication is preferred
  • Background in crusher and screen maintenance a plus
