Job Summary

Welding of various types of steel in the production of frames. 

Overtime is based on business needs and is NOT mandatory. 

 

Essential Duties

  • Read blueprints and schematics to be able to identify the proper parts.
  • Use and read tape measures, protractors, combination squares, carpenter squares, micrometers, and dial calipers.
  • Set voltages and wire speeds on welding machines for reliable and aesthetic-looking welds.
  • Capable of using an oxyacetylene torch to cut, preheat or anneal metal parts.
  • Must be able to carry parts and lift short and long hubs, drive rings, coil car tops, drum collars, guard doors, chutes, notchers, etc.
  • Will require welding from various positions such as climbing in and out of frames.
  • Need to be able to set their welder and weld.
  • Must be able to use a torch and be able to set gauges properly.
  • Uses a tape measure and preassemble machine to be able to read prints grind.
  • Will assemble shear heads, use feeder and gauges to set blade clearance, and weld completely.
  • Must be able to work with sheet metal to make guards, run shear in the booth, and use the hand brake to bend up edges and weld completely.
  • Operate CNC Burn Table.
  • Working knowledge of computers and CNC controls.
  • Lay out pieces to be cut to assure the efficient use of material.
  • Maintenance of burn table and related equipment.
  • Capable of using a power leaf brake, power shear, hand brake, and power roll.

Qualifications

  • The job involves lifting a maximum of 50 pounds.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Use and read tape measures, torque wrenches, and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to operate a fork truck and overhead crane.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Ability to adapt methods and ideas to attain continuous improvement.
  • Work with little or no supervision.
  • Have a valid driver’s license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
