Be able to lift and safely transport racks of dishes and glassware up to 40 pounds in weight to and from the dishwashing machine.
Understand and follow directions.
Ask questions when not sure of any task.
Work clean and safe
Operate automated dishwashing machine and wash pots and pans.
Wash and return clean dishes, glassware and cutlery during the shift to dining room
When not on the machine, assist students in washing pots and pans. Replacing pots and pans in correct storage areas after correctly washing, rinsing and sanitizing.
Help organize and maintain safe storage of the pot room contents.
Perform cleaning duties as requested by the chef instructor to help maintain the general cleanliness of the kitchen:
Washing and sanitizing storage shelves, storage cabinets, sinks and utility carts.
Wash and sanitize metal shelves in the refrigeration units as needed.
Always leave shift with the working area clean and tidy.
Maintain a time sheet and have it signed by the chef instructor and turn in when required to the Human Resource Office.
Salary $9.49/hr Classification Title Food Services Worker Job Code 7994 (PT) FLSA Non-Exempt Position Pay Grade B/C 01 Position Type Part-Time Summary Statement A class incumbent assists in the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen areas, dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.
Nature and Scope The incumbent works under the close supervision of a technical supervisor and performs various functions to assist in the cleaning of kitchen areas, dishes, post, pans, and utensils. The incumbent may also assist cooks/chefs by opening cans, slicing or chopping food items, etc.
Principal Accountabilities 1. Performs all phases of the dishwashing process according to Delaware Health Department standards.
2. Assists cooks/chefs by performing such tasks as opening cans, slicing/chopping food items, preparing beverages, and lifting and carrying heavy objects.
3. Cleans carts and trash containers; sweeps and mops floors when necessary for safety; wipes tables, steam carts and counters; and performs other functions necessary to ensure that food preparation and serving areas are sanitary.
4. Sets up serving line and tables by gathering and placing utensils, foods, and supplies needed for the serving process when required.
5. Performs other duties as required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities Knowledge of cleaning methods and procedures applicable to food service.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to read, write, and follow basic instructions.
Ability to operate food service equipment.
Minimum Qualifications Completion of ten (10) years formal schooling.
