Description

The Mental Health Counselor provides a range of services as a part of the treatment team. Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Mental Health Counselor provides Individual and Group Rehabilitation Services, assists with linkage to community resources, conducts case management needs assessments, and provides interpretation and translation as needed. Job ID# 35210A

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide Individual and Group Rehabilitation Services to clients in collaboration with the primary therapist, including, but not limited to, training in social skills, independent living skills, and pre-vocational skills. Services to be provided in the clinic and in the field (including home, school, and other community settings).

Link families with community resources and act as liaison with community providers of services, (i.e, DCFS, schools, probation, etc.).

Conduct Case Management Needs Assessments during the initial intake process.

Provide interpretation and translation services. Assist in overcoming linguistic and cultural barriers and in obtaining culturally appropriate services.

Maintain required minimum productivity requirements consistently.

Complete all documentation in a timely and comprehensive manner and by required deadlines in compliance with all DMH and Center requirements.

Attend Staff Meetings weekly and come prepared to regular Supervision/Consultation meetings with Program Manager.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related field.

Minimum of three (3) years experience with special needs children or youth is preferred.

Must pass Department of Justice fingerprint clearance and pre-employment physical.

Bilingual, Spanish-speaking, and accurate interpreting and translating skills.

Computer skills and knowledge of community resources. Experience with children and families.

Must have a valid California Driver License in good standing.
