This person will have a genuine interest in geriatric care and be able to motivate while maintaining relationship with staff and residents. The right candidate will always strive to do the best job possible, to be creative and to work towards accomplishing facility goals.Position Summary:Under the supervision of the Director of Rehabilitation and the Staff Therapist, the Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant performs patient care and patient related activities as assigned.Accountabilities:Treats patients as directed by a licensed therapist. Demonstrates a positive attitude and a collaborative team building approach with all patients, clients and team members. Maintains productivity standard as determined by supervisor and clinical needs.Demonstrates consistent knowledge and application of Medicare and other reimbursement regulations.Develops effective treatment plans with functional, goal based outcomes and ensure approval/orders for services from referring physicians.Record clinic documentation according to accepted regulatory and professional guidelines.Record daily treatment charges per approved billing guidelines.Instruct families and nursing staff regarding restorative/home programs as directed by staff therapists.Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, and other meetings as required or directed.Coordinates with members of other departments, attending physicians, and other staff within Rehab department.Assures that the equipment and supply needs of the department are maintained and any change of needs is recommended to the administrator. Assure that the facility as well as rehab area is maintained in a clean and safe manner.Is on-call status during time away from work, such as after working hours or during days off. Also during critical operating issues and during disaster emergencies such as: snow, ice storms, fire, tornados, floods or as needed by the CEO.QualificationsQualificationsGraduate of an accredited Assistant Program. Successful completion of certification/state licensure process for Physical or Occupational Therapy AssistantsMust be able to read regulations and write clearly.Must be able to communicate in courteous, friendly manner.Ability to effectively manage and direct subordinates.Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, governmental agencies/personnel and the general public.Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc, that are necessary for providing quality resident care.Physical requirements attached.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
