Who You Are:

We are seeking a candidate with a strong positive attitude toward customer service to act as a Physical Therapy Assistant. This person will have a genuine interest in geriatric care and be able to motivate while maintaining relationship with staff and residents. The right candidate will always strive to do the best job possible, to be creative and to work towards accomplishing facility goals.

Position Summary:

The Licensed Staff Therapist Assistant performs patient care and patient related activities as directed by the Staff Therapist.

Essential Functions

Treats patients as directed by a licensed therapist.

Demonstrate a positive attitude and a collaborative team building approach with all patients, clients and team members.

Maintains productivity standard as determined by supervisor and clinical needs.

Demonstrates consistent knowledge and application of Medicare and other reimbursement regulations.

Treats patients according to treatment plan.

Develop effective treatment plans with functional, goal based outcomes and ensure approval/orders for services from referring physicians.

Treat patients according to treatment plan.

Record clinical documentation according to accepted regulatory and professional guidelines.

Record daily treatment charges per approved billing guidelines.

Instruct families and nursing staff regarding restorative/home programs as directed by staff therapist.

Communicates with supervisor and other health staff regarding patient progress, problems and plans.

Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, and other meeting as required or directed.

Participates in in-service training

Participates in facility performance improvement programs

Coordinates with members of other departments, attending physicians, and other staff within Rehab department.

Performs other duties as required or directed.

Screen patients based upon identified need per State Practice Act.

Assures that the equipment and supply needs of the department are maintained and any change of needs is recommended to the administrator. Assure that the facility as well as rehab area is maintained in a clean and safe manner.

Qualifications

Qualifications
  1. Graduate of an accredited Assistant Program. Successful completion of certification/state licensure process for Physical or Occupational Therapy Assistants
  2. Must be able to read regulations and write clearly.
  3. Must be able to communicate in courteous, friendly manner.
  4. Ability to effectively manage and direct subordinates.
  5. Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  6. Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, governmental agencies/personnel and the general public.
  7. Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc, that are necessary for providing quality resident care.
