Physical Therapy Assistant (Per Diem) - Military veterans preferred

Job Description

St. Mary's Medical Center is seeking a Per Diem PTA for our Physical Therapy Department. The PTA, under the supervision of the Director of Rehabilitation Services, Rehabilitation ServicesSupervisor, Staff Physical Therapist or designee performs designated skilled and routine tasksrelated to the operation of Physical Therapy services. The Physical Therapy Assistant assists thePhysical Therapist with patient related activities as directed and per the plan of care establishedby the Physical Therapist. The Physical Therapy Assistant actively works in collaboration withothers to provide quality interdisciplinary care. The Physical Therapy Assistant activelyparticipates in operational aspects of the department: assisting with performance improvementactivities within the department, participates in CQI activities, assists with monitoring budgetguidelines, ensures that patient charges are accurate and completed in a timely basis, andparticipates in infection control, departmental equipment training, organizational safety and firesafety programs.

Requirements

EDUCATION:

Graduate of a School of Physical Therapy Assistants or equivalent which is approved by theAmerican Physical Therapy Association Accreditation Board. Successful completion of StateBoard Examination of West Virginia. Current state of West Virginia license or Temporarylicense. Once licensed, must maintain current licensure requirements. Current membership inthe APTA preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Experience preferred but not required.

SKILLS:

A thorough knowledge of the field of Physical Therapy and the ability to work in co-operation with physicians, rehab staff members, other hospital personnel, and with patients and families. Current CPR required.
