As the needs of our seniors change, they have access to additional services and supports without having to leave familiar surroundings or newly developed friendships. **About the Position:**

Reporting to the Director of Nutrition Services, the Food Service Worker is responsible for preparing, serving food, dishwashing, and other related duties. They are also responsible to aid with food preparation under the cook's direction.

**WAGE: $ 17.19 - $ 20.85 hourly**

**QUALIFICATIONS**

* Food Service Worker Diploma/Certificate or Training program at a recognized post-secondary institution as established by the Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology Act, 2002 or a registered private career college in Ontario

* Food Handler Training Program which has been completed by a Board of Public Health within the past five (5) years

**EXPERIENCE**

* Previous professional experience in a health care setting an asset

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES**

* Knowledge of basic nutrition and special diet needs of individual residents

* Able to operate kitchen utensils and equipment safely and efficiently

* Able to work in an environment that is subject to temperature change

* Able to tolerate standing and lifting throughout the workday

* Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

* Must be open to new knowledge and changes in the healthcare and food service fields

* Must be able to relate, communicate and co-operate effectively with staff, residents, residents families, and the public

* Must be able to exhibit maturity, good judgment, and flexibility

* Exhibit and maintain a high standard of professional knowledge appearance, behavior and attitude

* Possess physical and mental capabilities to provide quality resident care

* Must show genuine concern for the elderly
