The Physical Therapy Assistant performs physical therapy interventions under the supervision of a Physical Therapist according to the WV State Practice as well as the established policy & procedure manual. PTA will treat a variety of patients in multiple settings including inpatient, outpatient, hospice and skilled swing bed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High School Diploma

2. Associates Degrees from accredited PTA program by the Committee on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Assoc/ APTA

3. WV BOPT Physical Therapy Assistant Licensure

EXPERIENCE:

1. Completed PTA program from an accredited program by the Committee on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Assoc/ APTA

2. Up to date C.E.U.'s

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelors' degree from accredited PTA program by the Committee on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Assoc/ APTA

2. CPR Certified

3. APTA membership

EXPERIENCE:

1. At least 1 year experience in acute PT setting

2. At least 1 year experience in outpatient PT setting

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. 1. Treat outpatients and inpatients according to Physical Therapist plan of care

2. Completing all documentation in a timely manner

3. Assisting in outpatient clinic exercise equipment upkeep

4. Minor wound care including whirlpool

5. Assistance with cleaning of O/P & I/P equipment

6. Assistance with G Code tracking

7. Assistance with tracking patient goals, recertification and visits.

8. Alerting PT when patients are in need of progression/regression of POC

9. Alerting PT when patients are prepared for discharge or recertification.

10. Educating patients with home exercises programs and other physical therapy related issues.
