MCHD has averaged in the 94th percentile in the US over the past 8 years!This is a PRN Position.SUMMARY: Summary of Primary ResponsibilitiesThe licensed physical therapist assistant is responsible for treatment implementation as documented in a written treatment plan by the licensed physical therapist. Compliance with the practice act of Texas State Board of Physical Therapy, regulatory agencies, payer guidelines, and policies and procedures of the department is maintained through all levels and arenas of patient care. All staff responsibilities include the provision of optimal patient care in a safe and appropriate manner, accurate and complete documentation, interdisciplinary collaborative care, and cooperative function of the department and the hospital district. Summary of Secondary Responsibilities The licensed physical therapist assistant is responsible for assisting with all other aspects of department function when primary responsibilities have been completed. These may include participation in quality control, performance improvement processes, staff development, compliance processes, program development, and assistance to other staff members for completion of their primary responsibilities.Work Area AssignmentThe licensed physical therapist assistant will be assigned a varied work schedule which may include hospital based programs, outpatient clinic programs, home health, or contract services. Hospital based programs include outpatient wound, inpatient acute including wounds, outpatient nursing home, and extended care. The outpatient clinic programs include adult and pediatric musculoskeletal and neurological programs. Contract services include school based programs. Home health services are provided through MCHD. Both of these programs require use of personal transportation. As additional programs are developed or programs are transitioned to different sites, assignments may change. All staff is expected to remain flexible and develop competencies in all areas that are within the scope of services.Attitude and BehaviorThe licensed physical therapist assistant is expected to demonstrate attitudes and behavior consistent with professional duties, a pro-active approach to conflict resolution and problem solving, and flexible cooperation within the hospital district.ComplianceThe licensed physical therapist assistant must maintain compliance with practice act for physical therapy as outlined by the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy examiners. Compliance with regulatory agencies, payer guidelines, and the policies and procedures of MCHD and the department is expected.Provision of Patient CareThe licensed physical therapist assistant is expected to provide patient care in a safe, appropriate manner based on the written treatment plan by the licensed physical therapist. All treatment and interaction is age appropriate, diagnostic appropriate in compliance with practice act, regulatory agencies, payer guidelines, and policies and procedures of MCHD and the department. Collaboration with other staff and other care providers and patient education are included in the continuum of care. Provision of patient care includes appropriate supervision of non-skilled personnel who participate in the patient's care and contact within and outside of the hospital system in regards to the patient's status and care.DocumentationThe licensed physical therapist assistant is responsible for accurate billing of patient services by documenting only the services received in compliance with the practice act, regulatory agencies, and payer guidelines. Documentation by the physical therapist assistant is expected to be complete, timely, concise, and accurate in compliance with the policies and procedures of the MCHD and the department.EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Associate Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: None requiredLICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Verification of current Physical Therapist Assistant License in TexasOTHER REQUIREMENTS: Documentation of the need for any accommodation as required by ADABasic keyboarding skills and word processing
