**Job Summary:** GENERAL SUMMARY
The Food Preparation Specialist will work with students developing skills in planning, preparing, cooking, and serving creative and nutritious hot and cold meals in a timely manner.
**Duties & Responsibilities:** DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Management of day to day operations of school food service.
Work with and supervise students in meal planning, preparation and serving.
Proven experience in food preparation and handling. (School Setting Preferred)
Cook and monitor food preparation program
Order and purchase all items necessary to run food preparation and service program
Clean and sterilize utensils, machines and other equipment used during food preparation.
Ensure that students are served appropriate and varied meals focusing on nutrition and appropriate portion size.
Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and able to effectively multitask
Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods including grilling, baking, and boiling.
Basic measuring, manual dexterity to use various kitchen tools, and record keeping skills.
Keep records of inventory quantity and reorder supplies.
Store and handle food by adhering to the safety policy and procedures
Organize supplies, equipment and utensils in refrigerators, cupboards, and other storage areas, including labeling for easy accessibility.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Perform other duties as needed
Aid in emergency situations: student illnesses, minor emergencies and crisis intervention
One-year similar work experience

**Education & Experience** EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience working with special education students preferred
**Physical Requirements:** PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to pass yearly physical as per Agency requirements
Able to provide physical hands on intervention when necessary
Must be able to lift 40 pounds
