Job Description / Essential Elements:

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Assists in the preparation and serving of a variety of foods; assists in the cleanup of kitchen equipment.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assists in the preparation, serving, and/or transporting of food for daily menus and special events.

2. Assist in preparation of a la carte, snack bar and packaged foods.

3. Washes dishes, pots and pans, and utensils.

4. Maintains equipment, serving areas, display counters, and eating areas in a clean and orderly condition.

5. Keep snack bar and vending machines adequately supplied with food and drink.

6. Assist with inventory, order, and stocking of food and supplies.

7. Supervise student help.

8. Does related work as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

Basic knowledge of food preparation and serving.

Ability to:

Follow sanitation and safety procedures; lift or move 50 pounds or more individually or with assistance using correct body mechanics; communicate effectively and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work; understand and implement oral and written directions in English.

Experience:

Minimum requirements: None

Desirable experience: Previous experience in food preparation
and serving.

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Supervision:

Under direction of Cafeteria Manager I, or II and is supervised by the Director of Child Nutrition Services.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds individualy or with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Rarely exposed to risk of electrical shock.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
