The Area Sales Manager - GI Genius - Artificial Intelligence is a field-based Medtronic Gastrointestinal (GI) sales leadership position. The individual will call on enterprise level c-suites, Hospitals, Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASC) and physicians’ offices, and will support their teams assigned geographic area. The Area Sales Manager aligns with internal and external stakeholders to execute and accelerate meaningful outcomes for strategic organizational initiatives and will serve as a customer facing product expert. This position will primarily focus on protecting and expanding the utilization of the GI Genius product through market development and sales-oriented activities. The leader will be expected to transfer knowledge and best practices to accelerate the expertise of Medtronic AI technologies by the greater sales force, and adoption by the customer. Additionally, the individual will be expected to develop solutions across a broad range of issues at the account level, requiring a high degree of cross-functional interactions and leadership capability, with only high-level guidance. Operating Unit The Gastrointestinal Operating Unit has created a business out of disrupting the status quo in the detection, prevention, and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers and chronic diseases. We’ve done this by commercializing transformational technologies that improve patient management and standards of care, while increasing access to our innovations across the globe. A Day in the Life Promotes and sells Medtronics Medical/Scientific Equipment products and services including non-implantable medical or scientific equipment products and/or services (e.g., diagnostic medical equipment, medical imaging machines, medical laboratory equipment, and non-implantable medical devices) within an assigned geographic area and /or specific customer accounts to meet or exceed sales targets. · Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual region and area sales quotas. · Drive GI commercial sales strategy, processes, and methodologies across area. Responsible for developing, building, and strengthening long-term relationships with stakeholders including hospitals, physicians, ambulatory surgery centers and physician practices. Responsible for pursuing leads, assessing needs and providing product services to maximize the benefits derived from Medtronics Medical/Scientific Equipment products and/or services. Conducts and/or evaluates market research including customers and competitors’ activities. Develops and/or implements market development plans/strategies and changes as needed. · Conduct 2-3 days of field rides with each AIM at least once each quarter to observe performance in all sites of care including hospitals, physician offices and clinics. · Provide written field coaching reports to each AIM following observed time in territory. · Weekly reviews with AIM to evaluate performance and ensure compliance with KPIs. · Implement Medtronic’s Performance and Career Development framework with their AIM s to ensure continued personal development and achievement of career goals. · Create a high-performance environment within the Area that leads to sustainable success. · Develop and lead market development initiatives in collaboration with commercial marketing and sales to launch GI Genius and Medtronic GI products throughout area. · Create actionable sales plans and develop quarterly forecasts through the utilization of SFDC. · Collaborate with cross-functional counterparts including remote sale managers, marketing and clinical support management teams by consistently communicating and sharing best practices. · Function as an integral member of the GIH Sales Management team. · Establish relationships with key opinion leaders and IDN partners in the Area. · Develop understanding and ability to communicate the reimbursement process and economic models for GI Genius. · Additional tasks as required CLINICAL EXCELLENCE Responsible for continuing education to understand and be able to communicate business, clinical and product knowledge of GI Genius, the entire GIH product portfolio and general GI disease state knowledge. ADMINISTRATIVE · Consistently perform administrative responsibilities, such as expense reports, sales reports, and other business requests. · Develop quarterly area business plans and effectively communicate them to their teams as well as senior leadership. · Collaborate with cross-functional counterparts by consistently communicating and sharing best practices. · Attend internal sales leadership meetings and plan and coordinate area level sales meetings. · Demonstrate proficiency by completing online trainings within assigned timelines. · Utilize SFDC for data entry, analysis, forecasting and sales planning. · Adhere to the Medtronic Code of Conduct. Must Have: Minimum Requirements Bachelors degree required with 5 years of medical device hospital sales experience An advanced degree with 3 years of medical device hospital sales and leadership experience An advanced degree with 3 years of SaaS, PaaS, SaMD sales leadership experience Degree with emphasis in Life Sciences, Medicine, or related, technical field. 5 years of medical devices sales experience with previous leadership/management experience · 2 years of GI experience preferred. · Proven track record of exceeding sales quotas as a rep and/or sales leader · Established business planning and forecasting experience. · Demonstrated formal sales skills training, preferably from a Fortune 500 company. · Strong computer skills with specific skills in Microsoft Office: Power Point, Excel and Word. · Medical device/equipment sales leadership experience · Experience with the complex, quota driven Sales Process · Experience leading through organizational change · Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with all functional areas · Strong problem-solving skills · Ability to coach and teach others · Ability to multi-task and work independently · Experience presenting reimbursement related medical device sales · Strong written and oral communication skills About Medtronic Together, we can change healthcare worldwide. In addition to Base Salary, this position is eligible for a Sales Incentive Plan (SIP), which provides the opportunity to earn significant incentive compensation for achieving or exceeding your goals.
