Function:

Environmental, Health & Safety

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable environmental regulations and permits. The Environmental Superintendent will review required reports to regulatory agencies, provide oversight to those that track daily environmental compliance, and provide technical support to other departments within the facility. This position will report to the Manager, EHS.

Job Description:

1. Provide technical oversight, guidance and communications on issues involving compliance with and interpretation of local, state and where applicable, federal environmental regulations.

2. Identify continuous improvement opportunities and develop and execute action plans to improve environmental programs and processes.

3. Work closely with direct reports and site leaders to develop and improve environmental procedures, standard work and data collection methods.

4. Create, update and maintain facility compliance plans, procedures and polices.

5. Work closely with operations, contractors and testing consultants on emissions testing of process equipment for air permit compliance.

6. Conduct periodic compliance reviews and auditing of site environmental programs.

7. Monitor analytical data and other environmental information to assess site compliance. 

8. Lead environmental incident investigations to determine root cause and develop corrective action plans. Help direct environmental consultants and contractors to ensure environmental compliance reports are technically sound which support the sites business objectives.

9. Interface and communicate as required with local, state and federal regulators.

10. Prepare, review and submit appropriate environmental reports for the site to regulatory agencies.

11. Evaluate and support new equipment installation, modification and/or other change management activity related to environmental impacts by reviewing all projects that are part of the sites Management of Change process.

12. Manage and develop the environmental team to support compliance and environmental best practices.

Position Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or similar degree with 5 or more years of relevant experience is required.

2. Must have substantive knowledge of environmental regulations, standards and best practices with demonstrated success in effective implementation of compliance and control plans.

3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

4. Proven project management, execution, and partnering skills.
