JOB SUMMARY: Provides oversight of all Global EHS Standards and Assurance practices overseeing two distinct but interrelated disciplines Global EHS Standards and EHS Assurance. Global Standards includes interpretation of global regulation, standards setting and document development for global implementation, training, and communication materials. EHS Assurance directs all EHS audit practices globally to include third party and internal audit coordination and training, corrective and preventative action plans and funding justification assistance, executive and finance disclosures, coordination of Technical Services and Operations global audit processes to ensure synergies between the three audit teams. Dotted line oversight of Standards and Assurance teams located within each park to validate consistency in operations at the local level. Liaison with corporate NBCU EHS VP related corporate audit, standards, and UPR and Comcast Finance audit functions.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and maintains Global EHS Standards against prevailing regulation, consensus standards, and industry best practice for implementation at all operations. Makes direct contributions in the development of Site EHS procedures against Standards. Provide EHS operational input for new site development by ensuring alignment between Global EHS Standard, MODEL, and site procedures
  • Monitors and manages the input/output flow of material from Global EHS Standards, written policy, and procedure development to ensure adequate review and resolution of comments/conflict and regulatory interpretation by acting as Global EHS Standards Gatekeeper. Build consensus among park entities and content experts, oversee the publication and communication of these standards, and manage the assessment of regulatory compliance with these standards.
  • Directs the EHS assurance (audit) function in the development and implementation of both internal and third party audit protocols. Liaison with UPR A&A function to validate consistency with expectation. Acts in capacity of audit leader as needed for both third party and internal audits. Approves annual audit schedule, vendors, and audit topics. Arranges for executive and UPR A&A disclosures. Partners with site management to develop self-inspection protocols. Coordinates EHS, Technical Services and Operations Cross Park Audits
  • Review, analyze, interpret, and make determinations that audit results are accurate and correct, validate recommended corrective actions, and communicate results routinely (no less than quarterly) to the Internal Audit Function, Executive and EHS leadership.
  • Interpret performance, trends and risk register at least annually. The register and performance trending profile will be utilized to schedule audits, Global Standard review/update, EHS Operational team focus, and associated action plans.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university in: Environmental Engineering or safety related field is required

EXPERIENCE:

  • Hands-On Auditing and Audit Management Experience: 7+ years’ of experience required for EHS compliance and management system auditing and audit management.
  • Regulatory Understanding and Interpretation: Experience understanding, interpreting, and applying applicable EHS regulations, both US and international, to various work environments.
  • Management System: Direct day to day oversight of EHS professional team, EHS management system maintenance, strategic planning, scheduling, internal and external communications, performance measurement, conformance validation, EHS Standards implementation, inspections and audits, corrective action plans, training and presentations, liaise with cross functional business lines.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Required: Possess or have the education and experience to meet testing criteria for a Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA) issued by BEAC or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) issued by IIA.
  • Preferred: CSP, CIH, CHMM, PE or other equivalent internationally recognized certification within the EHS discipline.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position works with all levels of management within the Universal Parks and Resorts organization up to, and including, senior leadership. It routinely makes decisions and recommendations that have a direct affect on corporate liability and brand throughout the UPR park system. Overnight travel may be required on occasion.
