ONE WORLD OBSERVATORY

Positioned at the top of One World Trade Center, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, on levels 100, 101, and 102 - One World Observatory provides guests with unique, panoramic views of New York City, its most iconic sites, and surrounding waters from 1,250 feet. A customized guest experience complements the seemingly endless views - which evoke feelings of the City's signature pride, hope and determination - including special interactive experiences and dining options, plus a sit-down restaurant.

THE ROLE

The Bartender is responsible for positive guest interactions while accurately mixing and serving beverages to guests and servers in a friendly and efficient manner. The role reports to the F&B manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Follow all safety and sanitation standards, neatness, and organization of work areas
  • Follow all company drink and food procedures to provide consistently high-quality service to guests
  • Ensure that assigned bar area is fully equipped with necessary tools and products or mixing beverages and serving guests
  • Maintain bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages
  • Professionally greet guests, take, and process beverage/food orders
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of food and beverage products, menus, and promotions
  • Provide information on wine characteristics, evaluate guest needs, make appropriate recommendations, and serve wine using proper wine service techniques
  • Check identification of guests to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
  • Utilize high quality spirits, liqueurs, fruits, fresh herbs and spices to create sensational drinks
  • Serve food items to guests seated at the bar
  • Work with culinary team to create mixers and garnishes for beverages
  • Handle an assigned bank and follow all cash handling procedures
  • Collect payment for drinks served and balance all receipts
  • Prepare inventory or purchase requisitions as needed to replenish supplies
  • Maintain personal hygiene and a well-groomed appearance standards
  • Maintain a clean working area by sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning of glass doors and windows, etc.
  • Assist with station duties and perform other assigned duties/tasks-as needed
QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty above at the highest levels. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • A natural willingness to consistently exceed guest expectations
  • A minimum of two years' experience as a bartender/mixologist
  • Must have extensive knowledge of food and beverage preparations, drink recipes, wines, service standards, and service etiquette
  • Ability to create one of-a-kind drinks
  • Ability to create and serve drinks in a timely manner
  • Ability to be on feet for extended hours and to work flexible shifts including mornings, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to transport up to 50 lbs. on a continuous basis
  • Ability to work independently or in a team during set up and execution of service
  • Ability to effectively listen and take direction from supervisor
  • Ability to read, speak and write English Language in order to communicate with guests
  • Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items


COMPENSATION

$16.5/hour + a generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and 401(k) plan.
