About the Role

The Warehouse position is responsible for loading, unloading, and moving freight in a safe and efficient manner. Position may also interact with customers and may perform minor maintenance on equipment.

What you'll do:

  • Load and unload vehicles such as trucks, vans, flat beds trucks, box trucks, or tractor-trailers.
  • Mark incoming freight appropriately.
  • Move freight around yard and warehouse using a forklift or other moving equipment.
  • Complete freight paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Ensure that freight is loaded, unloaded, palletized, and marked appropriately.
  • Consistently adhere to all Safety and Fit for Duty policies.
  • Assist customers as necessary.
  • Consistently follow all safety procedures and attend safety meetings.
  • Minor vehicle/equipment inspection, maintenance, and cleaning.
  • Assist with warehouse clean up.
  • Attend training and meetings as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
You have these skills:
  • Communication skills are necessary as the position may interact with other employees, customers, vendors, contractors and/or suppliers. Contacts are typically face-to-face but may be via radio or telephone.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safety and accurately.
  • Ability to drive a variety of vehicles.
  • Ability to process all freight related accurately and efficiently.
  • Must exercise good judgment, decision making, and focus.
  • Ability to follow all safety policy and procedures at all times.
  • Ability to safely and accurately block and brace loads on a flatbed truck.
  • Strong knowledge of lifting techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse equipment usage, maintenance, and light repair.
And these qualifications:
  • High school education or GED.
  • At least three months of experience is required, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the necessary qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position.
  • Forklift Certification.
  • Hazardous Materials Certification.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to push or pull heavy loads (up to 200 pounds).
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to operate all equipment in a warehouse which may include grasping, climbing, bending, handling, reaching, hand dexterity, feeling/touching and repetitive motions of the hands and feet.
  • Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time.
  • Strong body coordination and equilibrium.

Work Environment:

Work is typically performed in a general warehouse environment buy may also be conducted outside in the elements. Exposure to exhaust fumes is likely. Overtime may be mandatory when needed. Conditions may also include exposure to environmental noise.
