Description

Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a talented RF Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, LDS provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

LDS' Foreign Weapon Systems Department is seeking a strong RF engineer with requisite skills and interest to support the analysis of radars. A strong background in radar and RF components is required, with particular emphasis on hands-on work. The RF engineer will help analyze and characterize both analog and digital radar and other RF systems. Potential technologies include waveguide, microstrip, stripline, TWTs, klystrons, magnetrons, phased arrays, and more. Familiarity with RF test equipment including spectrum analyzers and signal generators is required. Characterization of the system may include probability of detection, waveform analysis, probability of intercept, defended area. Algorithm analysis may include detection processes, waveform selection, signal processing, clutter and electronic attack mitigation, beamforming, target identification, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must possess a BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics from an accredited institute and have at least 4+ years of relevant work history. MS or PhD will be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Candidate should be able to apply academic background to one or more of the following:
    • Apply engineering principles to characterize RF hardware
    • Analyze algorithms to determine functionality of an RF system
  • Candidate must demonstrate the ability to communicate professionally and work cohesively in a team environment
  • A demonstrated, working knowledge of radar systems beyond theory.
  • Resolves highly complex problems using significant application of technical knowledge, conceptualizing, reasoning, and interpretation.
  • Candidate will work with software engineers, computer engineers, and other electrical engineers to further characterize RF systems.
  • Ability to thoroughly document test plans and procedures, as well as record test data and condense it into meaningful forms for a customer.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

Preferred Skills:

  • MATLAB and Simulink
  • C++ or Python
  • Assembly language programming
  • Verilog or VHDL

Security Requirements:

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (as well as maintain) a Final Secret Clearance. Will eventually be cleared up to TS/SCI

Pay Range:

Pay Range $81,250.00 - $146,875.00
