The Counsel will provide legal and strategic support to the company's Federal Civilian division. This position will be located at GDIT's headquarters office in Falls Church, VA, and reports to the Staff Vice President & Division General Counsel, Federal Civilian Division.

Principal duties and responsibilities

  • Provides advice and counsel to business leaders and other internal stakeholders, such as the Contracts and Finance departments, on a variety of corporate and government contracts legal matters.
  • Serves as a key value added strategic business partner and proactive counselor and business advisor to provide a risk balanced (business and operational) path in support of business goals and priorities.
  • Drafts, reviews and negotiates legal documents of varying complexity.
  • Provides legal guidance in connection with customer, supplier and competitor disputes, as well as U.S. government contract bid protests at the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and similar forums.
  • Manages and directs outside counsel as necessary.
  • Participates in special projects as required.


Requirements:
  • Requires a Juris Doctor degree.
  • Requires an active state bar membership in good standing.
  • At least six years of total legal experience in a large law firm or corporate law department, most of which is concentrated on advising with respect to corporate and government contracts matters, including experience with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
  • Experience working with international, state and local government contracts is a plus but not required.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant corporate and government regulations and standards regarding government contracts administration.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent advocacy, negotiation, writing and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work in complex and fast-paced environments with multiple projects and priorities.
