About the Position:
As a Lead Auditor you will provide specialist auditing expertise with emphasis on assurance of risks involving process safety and major accident hazards (MAH). Conduct independent audits across the businesses and operations of National Grid of management systems and risk control systems in relation to process safety risks (major hazards) to identify risks that may impact the achievement of business objectives. Be part of a high performance SHE Audit Team that delivers an effective and proactive audit service.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Assist and support the US SHE Director in the delivery of the SHE audit plan through:
Planning, scheduling, undertaking, and delivering audits of key process safety systems, processes and activities, using internal and co-source service provider resources as required.
Undertaking audits in the other disciplines (Health and Safety, & Environment and Sustainability), as required.
Coordinating the SHE audit program with other audit and assurance work.
Providing assurance and developing recommendations on process safety risks and associated risk control to the company.
Providing information for periodic audit performance reporting to management.
Act as technical lead on process safety, risks and associated risk control through:
Leading on audits involving process safety elements, providing independent assurance on effective management of key risks and to direct the business to areas that can be improved.
Provide specialist support and mentor other auditors in the department.
Keep up to date professionally with legislative and industry developments to assess the optimization of good practice for National Grid
Ensure that audits reports are robust through:
Preparing and developing audit protocols and terms of reference for each audit conducted.
Engaging with management with persuasive communications and recommendations that align to relevant business plans.
Identifying and reporting the main issues, conclusions, and recommendations to business management.
Knowledge and Experience Required:
Bachelor degree in Engineering or other Science discipline; PE or equivalent preferred.
7+ years of relevant experience.
An in depth understanding of health and safety issues and risks.
Experience of leading and delivering process safety audits and drawing out root causes in findings.
Driver’s license required with a safe driving history.
Project management skills and an ability to meet multiple deadlines.
Audit Certifications preferred.Strong knowledge of MS Office products.
