Mechanical Technician SR. -- ESP Completion Technologies

General Description

Work involves supporting the development of new products from Engineering. Responsibilities include conducting and leading laboratory functions in the engineering and maintenance of special laboratory apparatus and equipment, and in the construction of complex research and experimental tests. Work assignments may be received with minimal instruction or support. Work may be done independently or as part of a team.

Essential Functions

  • Develops experiments and experimental setups supporting engineering and manufacturing product development (at times independently)
  • Responsibilities may include defining requirements, specifying and ordering components, assembly, testing and validation of setup, conduction of experiments, compilation of data and creation of operational documents
  • Duties include performing skilled work in several technical disciplines, including mechanical, hydraulic and electrical
  • Leads and oversees the operation and maintenance of experimental equipment; instructs ESPCT and/or third party personnel on operation of said equipment
  • Oversees engineering work area, including maintenance and calibration of equipment (may also include oversight into personnel approved for operation in area)
  • Reviews engineering designs with focus placed on manufacturability, ease of maintenance, etc.
  • Trains manufacturing personnel on assembly of new engineering projects
  • Trains ESPCT field personnel on assembly and maintenance of new engineering projects
  • Performs related work as required

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Significant working knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices of several mechanical or related trades
  • Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the trades
  • Extensive knowledge of shop techniques and procedures, and of the types, nomenclatures, and uses of assigned shop or laboratory's materials, equipment, and tools
  • Knowledge of the theory and principles of the subject field
  • Ability to independently conduct, design, plan, and layout construction, fabrication or assembly jobs, and to carry through to completion
  • Ability to locate and identify malfunctions or defections in equipment or apparatus and to make repairs
  • Ability to plan and lead the work of less experienced technicians
  • Experience in, or knowledge of, manufacturing and fabrication methods
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work duties; following through on action items
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and throughout the organization

Required Education and Experience

  • 10 years of relevant experience; or Associate/Vocational Degree with 8 years of relevant experience
