About the Position:
Will, to lead the development and implementation of 5-7 key strategic supplier Relationship management strategies for National Grid, as defined by spend, complexity and strategic importance.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Responsible for the development of the supplier Relationship management (SRM) strategy and implementation plan for the Global Procurement function, ensuring:
A coordinated, proactive engagement process with key strategic suppliers.
National Grid?s key suppliers (5-7 ? defined by spend, complexity and strategic importance) provide sufficient service quality and innovation to National Grid.
Key suppliers are viewed as strategic partners who add-value, innovate in partnership, and drive continuous improvement for the National Grid business.
Long-term initiatives are managed, planned for, and drive full value potential for the company.
National Grid is a customer of choice for strategic suppliers.
Deliver and maintain an effective SRM governance plan, ensuring that the appropriate SRM methods are applied to the management of key strategic suppliers.
Lead and facilitate SRM for 5-7 key strategic suppliers, capturing opportunities and ensuring resulting opportunities are effectively communicated and executed through the Global Procurement Category and Contract teams together with business entities as appropriate.
Undertake research and analysis of key strategic suppliers and the external market place, ensuring that information e.g. supplier strategy and risk insight, is shared between Global Procurement and wider business entities.
Manage the long-term relationships with selected key strategic suppliers to form deep, mutually benefitting partner relationships and understanding. Facilitate communication among National Grid internal stakeholders and National Grid?s strategic suppliers to ensure relationships are delivering their intended (and optimal) value.
Provide support to business wide change activities, role modelling new ways of working and supporting the delivery of elements of the programme to ensure capability is improved and value added to the business.
Knowledge & Experience Required:
Ability to communicate dynamically at all levels within National Grid and externally to senior leaders within supplier organizations (including C level executives) .
Strong Relationship management experience, driving commercial value and performance through major contracts.
Strong experience of developing, managing and operating SRM programs.
Experience of managing procurement activities and delivering procurement value
Experience of using business intelligence to leverage opportunities and deliver targets.
Expert influencing & negotiation skills.
Good understanding of broader business objectives and the implications of strategic planning across category areas for both regional/global businesses.
Ability to deal with ambiguity and the corresponding ability to make decisions or recommendations on incomplete information.
Bachelor degree or equivalent.
